Cant see why anyone should question a decision to protect a valuable racehorse surely the connections were in the right position to make a decision about the horse running better to be safe than sorry with a promising 4yold career in the offing.
November 8, 2010 at 16:40 #327012Stoute thought he could ship the horse over and try and bully the CD staff into watering for him with talk of only running if the ground wasn’t firm and the like.
Well done to Butch for sticking to his guns and providing safe ground with no jar.
Great turf course for the Breeders Cup and I doubt after Goldi’s 3 wins, Zen vs. Blame, Uncle Mo’s win and Big Drama wiring the field in the Sprint amongst other races that anyone will remember the Workforce scratching.

November 8, 2010 at 17:36 #327021So basically what you are saying is that Workforce cannot handle firm or good to firm going.Just so long as we remember that for next year.I for one don’t buy it but I dont own the horse and I realize that that is the issue.
November 8, 2010 at 17:40 #327022Reet, Goldikova races on. Yayyyyy!!!
Goldi versus Canford…mouthwatering.

OT? Good decision to scratch.
November 8, 2010 at 17:41 #327023(the turf sprint was run 4 secs faster than the Chester course record, ffs.)
For some reason they don’t take the time from the gate but from a running start which is apparently 140 feet after the stalls. A hand time of the race from the stalls is nearly 2 secs slower than the official.

Thanks for that DJ; didn’t realise – must play hell with their sectionals.
Fair to point out though, that the Chester course is 48 feet longer. Likewise, the BC Turf was also run 4 secs quicker than the Chester course record (which is, in turn, 198 ft longer). I’m no expert on times, but they do suggest (imo) that the ground at Churchill Downs was bordering on what would be classed as "hard" in this country?Max
Can’t wait!
