I’ve got Salute running this evening (won’t have to worry about getting caught up in Cheltenham traffic now!) and amongst his rivals is a horse that is surely setting a new record.

Buscador will be running his 25th consecutive race at Wolverhampton – I thought Salute was a bit of a course specialist, but he’s just a tourist compared to Buscador.

Anyway, if you fancy a bet today, trainer assures me that Salute has worked as well as ever in his last gallop and with a favourite that has the dreaded Timeform squiggle and ran dismally over C+D last time, I’m hopeful he can win. If it was 14F I’d be confident, but if Buscador sets off in front as usual, we should get a decent pace.

Good luck AP and thanks for the heads up but I’d be worried about Kames Park on the info I’ve received, though I wouldn’t touch it unless I could get 7/4  ,we’ll see what happens.

Giving 4lb to Kames Park looks nigh on impossible, but I wish you luck.

Buscador must surely hold another obscure record as well….like being the horse that has had more late night starts than any other in training! The amount of times he turns up in the 9.20pm at Wolvehampton is spooky, & if it’s not that one, it’s normally late on the card. Maybe it’s something to do with how & when the course schedule the longer races?

Kames Park always travels like a class horse around Lingfield, he’s got a great record there in some decent races. Not sure about elsewhere, but it seems to read as though that form doesn’t stand up elsewhere.

    Good luck tonight, Alan.

Although he definitely looks something of a headcase and has one of the worst head carriages in training, his record on polytrack isn’t too shabby and I’d forgive him a poor run last time as the race was run at a dawdling gallop and it was soon clear those held up wouldn’t be getting into it.

If Kames Park runs to the form of 3 of his last 4 races then he should be the outsider of the field, dont take his OR at face value.
The only time Kames Park raced in a claimer he finished in last place.
Will be shocked if Kames Park can win this race here and he is clearly a better horse at Lingfield.

Taking the above into account then Salute should be an odds on favourite for this race, he stands out on OR (ignoring Kames Park) won last time and we are told he is in form. I have jumped on board and he looks to9 have an outstanding chance. 8)

Hard luck Alan. Kames Park certainly justifying the dreaded squiggle!

I had a nice free bet so have no complaints. Backed at 4.7 and layed at 1.8. Gave a great run.

Kames Park didnt run anywhere near his OR as expected.

I certainly hope the handicapper sees it the same way!

Owner, trainer and jockey delighted with the way Salute moved – the treatment he had for a stiff joint after his last run seems to have made quite a difference.

Next stop Musselburgh on Sunday week.

    Thanks everyone,

    AP
