Desperate for Chiefofchiefs to run here, as I bet him Antepost, but he looks booked for The Buckingham Palace instead.

Blackrod will be popular enough if he goes, and think he’s well worth his 5lb rise for his last win. It’ll be very hard for me to desert him if he runs.

Ground won’t be optimum for Gulliver, but he’s just the type to suddenly bounce back, and he’s high on the shortlist.

Further down, Ropey Guest and Stone of Destiny, but for now I’m stuck with that early bet on Chiefofchiefs.

    Chiefofchiefs 16’s

Chairmanoftheboard for me, with another e/w punt on Fine Wine.
Just hope they both get a run

Was a bit worried that Silver Samurai would not get in, but he managed, but maybe the draw could of been better  Certainly looked like a horse who might be on the road to group races in the not too distant future, the horse he beat won next time so here’s hoping.

    Summerghand EW @ 25/1 7 places

Dropping down the weights and was a blatant non trier at York IMO suggests his turn hopefully may not be too far away.

Competitive as always but I really liked Tabdeed here for Archie Watson/Hollie Doyle. Really liked the way he shaped in the Achilles Stakes behind Raasel, all his forms over 6F so for him to run that well at 5F suggests to me they have a horse who still has a lot of his ability, G3 and C&D winner rated as high as 112 at his peak, plenty of form on fast ground, lots to like. Central draw gives him options etc…. It’ll probably go under the radar but Archie’s having a cracking Royal Ascot given the resources he has, won the Coventry, Tempus went close in the Hunt Cup (similar rejuvenated sort to Tabdeed actually), big priced 3rd in the Windsor Castle.

I felt all last season as though Popmaster would make into a Group sprinter and I backed him in all the big handicaps, he was much more like his old self last time behind Dubai Station and bolted up over course and distance on fast ground last year. I’d have to have him on board too.

You could easily make a case for either of O’Meara’s old boys, both legends of these sort of races but Summerghand was the one of the duo I thought would prefer the ground this quick. O’Meara’s done it before with an old boy in Out Do, could happen again.

They’d be my 3 against the field.

I could see the Stands’ side high draws doing well today and Bielsa and Apollo One are two I like.

Best of luck to all :good:

All things considered, Silver Samurai is my main pick. Ticks a lot of boxes. Can see him being delivered fast and late with a well-timed run.

I’m expecting old warrior Summerghand to, once more, show up and put a spike somewhere in the placings.

Tabdeed is a course and distance winner and with Hollie Doyle on board, may well sneak into a minor place. I’ll drop this one into an each-way Patent.

Happy to go with Blackrod here, and I’m hopeful he can overcome that latest rise. Looks well drawn, and recent form encouraging.

Gulliver is another old favourite, and no surprise at all to see him make the frame at the very least. Definitely think he’s overpriced at 22’s. Wouldn’t have a problem topping up on him if he went bigger.

I’d love to add Summerghand, but my Antepost bet leaves me strictly with this pair.

Nothing original but backed Blackrod and Silver Samurai. I am a little concerned about the draw for the latter but he looks like he is on the upgrade.

Could be, Ian. That’s why I like Royal Commando at 40s (EW), Apollo One at 25s (EW) and Summerghand at 14s (win only).

LOL Backed five of the highest draws 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Ryan not drawn that well, goes straight to the rail at the back… and wins.

    EDIT: Had 5th too.
