Was nice to hear from Jimmy Lindley on the subject confirming he is still alive
June 2, 2017 at 04:31 #1302944Was nice to hear from Jimmy Lindley on the subject confirming he is still alive
Any word from Jimmy about what a marvellous job the stalls handlers do, or the flies swarming about at the 6F start during Glorious Goodwood?
I recall Jimmy having a telephone tipping service back in the old days and reading his advert in the Racing Post, which implored readers to join the “Wining Line”
Two bottles of Chateaux Latour please Jimmy.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 2, 2017 at 16:12 #1303017Citing her lack of experience at Epsom does Paddy Pilley have said experience? I know he’s had a lot more rides generally than she has, but if it’s also his first Epsom ride the same holds true for him, doesn’t it? Or is the BHA being sexist? Or is it elitist? Ana O’Brien also has no experience of the course, yet she’s allowed to ride.
Or how about Aus jockey Kerrin McEvoy back in 2004 – he also had no experience of the course before riding in the Derby.
And franky how is anyone supposed to gain experience of Epsom if they’re not allowed to ride the course?
June 2, 2017 at 20:53 #1303089For all the racket about the horse potentially causing an accident, has there ever been an instance of a no-hoper adversely interfering in a championship standard race?
June 2, 2017 at 21:11 #1303093It’s a shame it has come to this, and the owner should cop on, but I’m uneasy with the H&S stuff. Riding is a risk sport. If that girl baled out after failing to hold her horse on the way to the start, or fell off in the stalls due to a clap of thunder, people would be blaming her inexperience. For that reason, I am glad she’s not riding. For her sake, and nothing else. I don’t know what particular risk the pair posed. Inexperience on the track/lack of winners is not the whole story, and we can’t sanitise life completely.
June 2, 2017 at 21:14 #1303094[In response to BlackGold:] Yes, I believe Paddy Pilley has ridden at Epsom before, so the BHA would have had to go back to the rule book if they still weren’t happy with the booking.
It’s an interesting question though, what makes one rider acceptable and another not. Ana is also still an apprentice and The Anvil is far more likely to hold a prominent position early on than poor Diore Lia, for those who were concerned about that.
June 2, 2017 at 21:26 #1303098The number of winners each has ridden is irrelevant as Diore Lia’s jockey isn’t going to be on a winner. More perninent question would be which one has more experience being legged up on youngsters that are hopelessly outclassed in a large field.
June 2, 2017 at 21:40 #1303100From my point of view it is a matter of experience, the one had hardly any, the other a multiple winning jockey. No hesitation. Never mind the horses ability, that’s of no concern to others than the paying owner and the trainer. You would not exclude an unraced fullbrother to a Derby winner (maybe races on for five years not winning…), so there is the answer to doubters of a runners right to be in the finest race.
Best Wishes
SilkJune 3, 2017 at 00:46 #1303145Bookies have missed a trick here. I’d offer 20,000/1 easy. Think of all the 50p each way bets that would garner. Easy money for a horse that will only beat home injured horses.
June 3, 2017 at 11:07 #1303223Withdrawn. Lame.
June 3, 2017 at 11:11 #1303224I sometimes wish they would take Jamie Spencer off some of his rides that I fancy lol
June 3, 2017 at 15:29 #1303285The tawdry episode is over.
The Charity was hijacked and the race was hijacked for personal attention.
The owner is a tit and a charlatan.
He was on a forfeit list for 15 years over unpaid bills regarding a horse he left in the Derby entries back in 2002, despite the fact that the horse was a gelding and could not run.
A totally selfish and vainglorious project, but, as ever, he garnered support from the gullible and those trying to take the line that if you pay your fee, you have the right to run.
Sorry, but my Titometer was off-scale as soon as I read about this story.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 6, 2017 at 22:21 #1303683Just when you thought it was over, it isn’t.
The owner is now claiming Diore Lia was “Nobbled”.
Apparently someone has laid into the horse with a chunk of wood.
Sweet Jesus. It must be the first time in history that a horse with no talent whatever was stopped from winning a race.
The man needs a psychiatrist, as do his supporters.

Funny how all those supporting his efforts have all sank without trace once the truth emerges.

June 6, 2017 at 23:51 #1303689The news doesnt stop there as the owner has announced Diore Lia will run in the Arc and then become a dual purposes horse and run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. TRF’s very own David Cormack has been lined up to take the ride in both races after recently becoming a apprentice jockey and expected to be winner-less by the time these races come along. Mr Cormack is also known not to own a chunk of wood which is a bonus for all concerned.

Excellent Nathan.
I haven’t seen Corm so primed since his wedding night. Better than sex David?
I am just waiting for the Timeform adjusted rating for an Arc winner toting 13 and a half stone. (That’s two stone less than if I were riding by the way)
They don’t call me FC Caution without reason you know.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

He left his safety hat off that night aswell……

They finally found the jockey to handicap Arkle adequately.
