Never been to Wincanton before but can’t do our usual start of the season trip to Wetherby so thought we’d try a new track. Anything we need to know? Assume we can buy tickets on the day. Staying overnight nearby so we can get there early.

Nice course, you’ll enjoy the day Moehat.
My advice would be when getting out of the car at Wincanton Racecourse put on one more layer of clothing than you think you’re going to need. Two if the wind is coming from the North! Car park being lower than the racecourse is considerably warmer than inside the course/stands.

Fences are tricky and unforgiving, accurate jumping is therefore more important than most racecourses.

Nice little course Wincanton. Don’t see a problem buying tickets on the day but the place can get very busy, facilities are okay if a little basic. Afraid I can’t suggest where to stay locally but sure you’ll find somewhere nice in that area of the country. There is a bus service from Templecoombe train station if you aren’t driving. Viewing isn’t the best but agree it can get VERY cold!!

Thanks; we’ve got a travel lodge [or premier inn] booked. We’re used to the cold as we go to Kelso a lot!!
