Horses ran disappointingly on the whole with high profile horses not winning. Wonder what’s up.
One expects we will see better from them in the future.
December 28, 2019 at 16:47 #1478391This is what I replied in the Savills Chase thread:
Loads of Mullins horses running rather flat, especially towards the end of their races. I guess their season proper starts a bit later nowadays, otherwise how could you have them in peak form from March till May?
This seems to be the new trend at Closutton imo and it would explain why Willie has won almost every race at Punchestown for the past two years.
December 30, 2019 at 12:20 #1478526Did this happen last Xmas as well? I can’t actually remember.
The glaring issue for me is his novice hurdle string look properly average. I guess some years can happen like that.
Would agree, he seems to be a bit out of form atm.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 30, 2019 at 14:06 #1478533X-mas 2018 at Limerick: Getabird beaten into 2nd at 8/15, Stormy Ireland (4/6) beaten by Espoir D’Allen, Annamix beaten into 2nd at 4/6 in the maiden hurdle, Mixmnoon beaten into 3rd at 11/10 in the 3-yo hurdle, Undressed PU at 4/5 in the H’cap Chase, Dorrells Pierji beaten into last at 6/4 in the G2 Nov Hurdle. He had winners at 14/1 und 11/4 on the final day.
X-mas 2018 at Leopardstown: Footpad 2nd at Evs in the 2m G1 Chase, three beaten favs in the bumpers, Limini beaten into 3rd at 8/11, Elite Charbonierre beaten into 9th at 4/6 in a maiden hurdle, though he won G1 races with Kemboy and Aramon.
I think as a layer your profit would have been a very healthy one for a 2nd year in a row, if you go against his favs.
January 1, 2020 at 11:33 #1478657Good work Ruby.
Just even having a quick look on the RP website at his monthly results, it’s interesting to read how December results have changed over the years.
2015- 74 runners 30 winners
2016- 106 runners 44 winners
2017- 100 runners 24 winners
2018- 112 runners 23 winners
2019- 128 runners 21 winnersWithout going to heavy into the prices etc. it does seem he doesn’t win as often but is running more. Presumably getting them runs in for the Spring ahead.
Having some day today mind you.
