Not the “Biggest” of “Big Races” but I’ve been waiting on this one coming
out. Northern Express is a horse that has done nothing but improve all year.
Came out in April at Musselburgh where he got completely boxed in on the rail
and couldn’t get a run, looked very unlucky. He won the Thirsk Hunt Cup in May
and was the only horse still on the bridle coming into the final furlong. He had to wait for what felt like ever next time out at York for a gap to appear.
When it did he was probably 10l back in the final furlong but finished really well
to go down by 1/4L in 3rd, he would have won in another stride.Last time out he ran an absolute screamer in the Buckingham Palace at Ascot,
flying home in 3rd from stall 12. The 1st and 2nd were drawn 24 and 23 and
the 4th and 5th were drawn 21 and 22. He was put up 2lbs for that, which I
think was fair.I was hoping he’d appear in something like the Bunbury Cup tomorrow where he’d
have been a decent price. He’s best priced 3/1 which is fast disappearing so
if he is of interest to you I wouldn’t hang about.2.05 York Northern Express 3/1 Betvictor/Coral (at the moment)
