Any thoughts on horses to toss or horses to back, given the prediction of firm ground on Saturday? This American would appreciate your comments on the European/UK runners!
November 3, 2006 at 15:51 #30006Who predicted firm ground? It’s been raining plenty out there, hasn’t it?
Byanose
If it is genuinely fast ground, go for broke on Ouija Board!;)
November 3, 2006 at 18:52 #30008Very cold night last night – the dirt was virtually frozen this morning.
A lot of horses trained on the turf which was white over but apparently by 8am most of the frost was out of the ground.
Sunny and dry on Friday afternoon and I suspect that the ground will be riding on firm side of good by Saturday.
November 3, 2006 at 22:09 #30009A little snippet about the turf course from DRF:
"The turf course took plenty of water when it rained earlier in the week, and then Churchill Downs amazingly allowed two grass races on it Wednesday, which predictably tore up the middle of the softened course. Grass races scheduled for Thursday were prudently moved to the main track. This course likely will be labeled firm by Churchill on Saturday, though it might actually be closer to good."
