The national hunt chase
My recent record says why
Ms parfois second
Discorama second
Champagne classic injured, race won by inferior stablemate who replaced himThis year iv backed Pencilfulloflead and latest exhibition and both probably won’t run
I dont like the shergar cup or pertempts but id say that was rational
January 28, 2021 at 11:33 #1520066The Grand National!
My love for the race has faded, it’s not the race it once was when it was a jumping test.
Outsiders have won over the years but bad jumpers like Auroras Encore & Pineau De Re winning in recent years having just plodded around is not for me. They’ve even altered the distance of the race.
Just another long distance chase these days although it gets it’s usual big build up and the fences look a bit different.

All Sprint races. Never been a big fan of flat racing, but do like a punt on maiden races. The jumps are far superior as a spectator sport and I can’t think of a race I dislike, not even the one for all grey horses.
January 28, 2021 at 13:08 #1520075I like the Pertemps. I can often find the winner.
The Coral Cup is a different matter. Although, like the Ebor, even I managed to find the winner of it last year.
I still do not really like the race. The County and the Pertemps are much better. The intermediate distance does not really work for me. A bit like the Ryanair – neither one thing or the other.

Midlands National Meet @ Uttoxeter
NYD meet @ CheltenhamBest
Long Work Hurdle meet @ Ascot
Tommy Whittle @ Haydock
Sandown meeting just before CheltenhamNot because of the Racing but it usually means I have just finished work for a week or so or going back soon after a week or so off
January 28, 2021 at 17:12 #1520133Anything at the Galway Races; modest quality, uncomfortably crowded
January 28, 2021 at 20:25 #1520162the Galway Races; modest quality,
Jaysus you’re hard to please. Ireland’s richest hurdle race that threw up a grade 1 winter winner/ champion hurdle 2nd; a chasing plate that produced a Ryanair winner, a flat winner that won the Ces and whatnot. It’s a good test of a jumper too.
Fair enough about being too packed, can’t comment as have never been.
January 28, 2021 at 21:49 #1520169If you dislike crowds it is much better to go to Galway outside of the festival. I went in September one year and there was hardly anyone there.

They were probably all in Listowel
January 29, 2021 at 13:20 #1520210John Smiths Cup day at York is horrible nowadays. Drink, fight, drink, fight.
Dante day midweek is marvelous however.
BUY THE SUN
January 29, 2021 at 13:33 #1520212Same applies to pretty much every big Saturday meeting during the summer, to be fair.
January 30, 2021 at 09:43 #1520346Maybe, but for some reason that particular day has an unfortunate ‘tradition’ for large groups of lads on the piss from the North East and all of Yorkshire.

January 30, 2021 at 11:41 #1520371Another one here who can’t stand the Shergar Cup. Comes across as one of those kind of contests that should be in a Mario game on a Nintendo Wii. Should be scrapped and replaced with a proper card with group races named after a handful of great horses who haven’t been honoured in this way.
January 30, 2021 at 17:21 #1520523Midlands National – I think it is the anti-climactic feeling post Cheltenham
Cormack
January 31, 2021 at 20:18 #1520655I have to agree with others , and apologise for the lack of originality. It has to be the Shergar Cup , and all the hype surrounding it. I absolutely loathe it.
Although I also dislike all major sprint handicaps .February 1, 2021 at 11:41 #1520736The Clarence House Chase – one of the highlights of the season when it was a limited handicap, now usually the least interesting graded race on the UK calendar.
February 1, 2021 at 15:08 #1520763The Lincoln.
After the buzz of Cheltenham and with Aintree, Sandown and Punchestown still to look forward to over the jumps I just can’t get that excited by a hyped up flat race at that time of year.
