I suppose there are other sports, notably rugby today, but I’ll be knee deep in racing related spreadhets and databases chasing that ever elusive nugget.
What’ll you be up to if racing is off?

February 4, 2012 at 09:59 #389748I’m about to go for a bracing walk along the canal before the snow arrives.
I certainly will not be paying any attention at all to today’s racing.
Then later on will settle down to watch the rugby.
February 4, 2012 at 10:12 #389752Just had a look at the 5 day forecast for Newbury. While it should get warmer on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are not looking very good, so there must be a significant question mark over next Saturday as well. Once the frost has got into the ground, it really needs a significant improvement in temperature to come out.
February 4, 2012 at 10:18 #389753Any day without the killing fields is a good day.
The bonus of AW racing is that it’s not only great but it annoys the tits off folk who cant cut its mustard.

Each to their own, and please remember that we don’t fit neatly into one camp or the other. If I lived near all-weather tracks I’d be as familiar with the all-weather runners as I am with the jumpers in the north.
Bit of shopping this morning, watch Lingfield and Wolverhampton on Channel 4, maybe catch a bit of the rugby. After that work my way through tomorrow’s excellent Musselburgh card which, assuming the forecast is accurate, should go ahead.

February 4, 2012 at 10:58 #389760Dunno about up the road at Musselburgh Rob but snowing quite heavily here at the minute.
February 4, 2012 at 11:02 #389763Raining in Dunfermline, David, and Musselburgh is better placed than us to avoid the snow.

February 4, 2012 at 11:43 #389769Its raining here in eastern edinburgh, no sign of any snow so I am confident tomorrow’s meeting will go ahead.

February 4, 2012 at 13:16 #389782First Saturday off from the bookies in a long time and all racing off, terrific. Going to the pub to play darts.
February 4, 2012 at 13:30 #389791Leeds Rhinos (won last night), Man City, Birmingham City, Ireland (rugby) fourfold will keep me amused while I try to control/entertain 4 kids.
Also had a bet on no tries in the Calcutta Cup, 12/1.
Snows hammering down here (Dudley).
February 4, 2012 at 15:06 #389801You know what i’d do ? Slightly alter the racing times on a non-racing Saturday.
Several meetings off and we have three races within 5 minutes of each other.Good old racing – progressive as ever
February 4, 2012 at 15:45 #389814Luckly the AW racing has saved the day yet again
February 4, 2012 at 16:42 #389824The only thing the AW has saved is the bookies as its so bent with poor quality horses been run into the ground. Some of them race 3 times a week with such contrasting performances. If i had the money i would be well out of here.

If you think that unedifying sight at Wolverhampton this afternoon did anything top promote racing then you have a different view of the sport than I do.
February 4, 2012 at 17:44 #389829One of my most memorable days racing was at Lingfield with half a foot of snow on the ground, a blizzard roaring down the home straight and only about 50 others to get in my way
