Change is always an inconvenience, but this is just a bit much for me. They are going to drive a lot of casual customers away.

Increasingly I’m being taken to the new site from the old site bookmark and even from the old site going/NRs page. However, persistence will always enable me to find the old site.

I use Firefox to access the home page of the old website, I then started to get re-directed to the beta website, to stop this, all I had to do was clear Firefox’s history files.

    Mike.

I use this page from the old website, which still works, then you can get into the rest of the old website from there.

Don’t use RP online much at all, but I like the overall look of the new site. Will probably settle down in time, like it usually does.

Thanks Mike. I’m also using Firefox and had cleaned out cookies, history etc a few days ago but still ended up being re-directed from the homepage. Have no problem at the moment using Jac’s ‘Bloodstock’ back door entrance.

Can’t seem to find Ashford’s Angles on the new site, a piece normally producing a smile or two whilst reading.

Not sure why but came across the new site for the first time yesterday.

Clicking on the same link has taken me back to the old site today.

Can’t say I stuck around much yesterday but my initial impression of the new site was poor.

Seems like they have taken the criticism on board and it’s back to the good way it was before they messed it up.

Darn, the damned thing’s gone live. Just clicked my usual address for the old news page and get the new one. :negative:

Would you believe it? I have been using the new site for about 10 days now, have got used to it and am getting along fine with it. The key changes they made to when the new site originally sprouted, particularly reducing the sizing to only a little larger than on the old site and reinstating jockeys’ 5-year records, have made it workable for me. I still have a few minor quibbles but it seems to be improving all the time and there are as many pros as cons. I am a convert, I have seen the light, praise be to Centurycomm lol :)

I still, thankfully, have access to the old site. Do as ‘The Blues Brother’ above advises and clear out your history and cookies.

Just click on the jockey’s name and it’s right towards the top of the jockey’s page and you can click on the ‘v’ icon to swap between last 5 years/current season/jumps/flat/Ireland/etc.

Another improvement they’ve just made (are they reading this thread?) is to reduce the size of the pictures accompanying the story headlines on the home page, thus enabling the motif indicating that a particular story is only available to ultimate members (& not to essential members) to fit underneath the pic where it now always can clearly be seen. Therefore, the annoyance and frustration of clicking on an unavailable story, because the motif was often ‘camouflaged’ by the photo, is no more.

The Sporting Life site has a new layouy as well !

Minus – big side panel which takes up a third of the screen showing ‘Next Race Off’ ……..currently somewhere in South Africa. Can’t see anyway to close this panel so that’s a third of the screen gone. (Bit like this forum really !)

Huge minus – the filters on the horse’ form page and trainer page appear to have disappeared – these were the filters that enabled you to sort the horse’s previous runs by various factors , eg run after 60 day plus breaks, different going etc

Plus – the latest odds now load …….. previously I had to turn off my adblocker to get them to load

Plus – each horse now has a ‘Spotlight’ type comment

    that’s my initial impressions
