It will be interesting to see what the attendance is at Haig Avenue today. Based on comments on the fan forum, lots of people have had enough for the season are are saying they are not going today.
There is also a clash with a certain sporting event getting underway at 4pm just a few miles away. I think it is crazy for any football team in the Liverpool and Sefton area to be playing at home today. It has to affect the attendance.
I notice Lower Breck and Litherland REMYCA played their match in the North West Counties league last night. That must have been to avoid a clash with Aintree. It would have made no sense to play that match today.
Southport should either be away or have been given permission to kick off earlier or later.
April 5, 2025 at 17:01 #1726290Radcliffe beating Scunthorpe 1-0 opens up the title claims for Brackley and Kidderminster again.
2-2 draw for Southport means we are now 12 points clear of Needham Market with a better goal difference and only 4 games left. Almost there.
Attendance of 789. Genius fixture scheduling.
April 5, 2025 at 19:22 #1726352CAS, I had to take time to think about todays results.
First, how Northampton won 4-0 at Peterboro..apart from the Boro red card..amazing.
Thats another year in League 1, looks like the Gas maybe in trouble now.Second, Brackley get a narrow 1-0 win at South Shields and Scunny and Kiddy results are good for us.
Third. Banbury lost, enough said.
Southport are safe I dont see a collapse on their part.
My eyes are opened to Brackleys chances, the commentary suggested there were 30 supporters that travelled to the Sand-dancers today. Amazing nutters and fair play to them.

Austrian Bundesliga 2
FC Liefering V KSV1919, H 10/11 D 12/5 A 23/10.
No draws in the last six matches between the two teams, both have won away at each others grounds and three times the winning team has scored 3 goals.
KSV to 5@23/10
KSV correct score 3-1 away win 1@25sSaturday
Northampton V Reading H 13/10 D 5/2 A 2/1
Reading despite their off field issues are in the last play off place. A large contingent of away supporters will make their way to Sixfields. Despite Northampton’s win last week away to Perterboro, I dont see them getting a result in this.
Reading to Win 5@2s
Reading to win 2-1 4@9sWarrington V Brackley
The 2/5 odds on price reflects both the teams form.
Brackley 3-1 winners at 11/1 my fancy. 2@11sCorrect score double Brackley and Reading 1@119s

Ongoing -23.25April 11, 2025 at 08:31 #1726890Away at South Shields on Saturday. We beat them 3-0 at Haig Avenue back in the early part of the season when we were playing well but I cannot see us getting anything at their place. If it is to be a loss, I hope it is only by a small margin.
Needham Market play Rushall Olympic. I expect they will win. If they do and Southport do lose, it will keep the agony going for another week, although I hope our superior goal difference is too much to overhaul.
Only two more home fixtures but I cannot attend either, so it will be August and with a new manager in charge when I next attend Haig Avenue.
I am hopeful AFC Liverpool either win or draw with Colne tonight. If they do, it will ensure my local non league team South Liverpool stay up in Tier 5. In some ways, the South have been more enjoyable viewing than the Sandgrounders this season. They were promoted last season, have given their all and deserve to stay up.
April 11, 2025 at 19:23 #1726916Interseting about AFC Liverpool, would I be correct in thinking Bury are in the same league?
Its just I was talking to Bury supporter last night and he was excited about tomorrow as a win takes them up a division. He did say, they get good support at Gigg Lane this season. Sometimes its brilliant to meet real supporters, with local loyalty.April 11, 2025 at 19:25 #1726917I see Southport 2/1 at South Shields, Ill add that to some thing. Looks a good price to me.
April 11, 2025 at 21:30 #1726929Someone on the Southport fan forum pointed out South Shields have lost their last five matches. I must admit I did not realise that, so maybe Southport do have a decent chance after all.
Some of the fans are looking forward to it because it is the last long away trip of the season. The only other away game is Warrington on Easter Monday.
Yes, AFC Liverpool play in the same league as Bury – North West Counties Premier Division. A win tomorrow will see Bury promoted to Tier 4 and to one of the Northern Premier League regional divisions.
I think Bury have been averaging over 3,000 this season and got 5,500 on Boxing Day. This is in a league where most clubs get about 200 through the gate and some get even fewer.
Assuming Bury do get promoted it will be tough on Lower Breck. I don’t suppose many teams get over 100 points and fail to get automatic promotion. At least they will have the play offs.
AFC Liverpool are currently ground sharing with Marine but will be playing at Bootle next season. Currently 0-0 with Colne, which suits South Liverpool.
April 11, 2025 at 22:04 #1726935AFC Liverpool 2 Colne 0. Pressure off for South Liverpool now. I doubt they will get anything at Padiham tomorrow but at least they can enjoy their last match of the season on Easter Saturday, at home to AFC Liverpool.
April 12, 2025 at 18:49 #1727139A good win by Brackley, snatching victory in the last minute against the already relegated Wires.
Southport are now mathematically safe after a goalless draw at South Shields. From what I have read, the hosts were awful and we should have beaten them but at least the pressure is off for the last three games. And we have the little matter of the final of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy on Wednesday..
South Liverpool even managed to beat Padiham, so the results have gone well today.
April 12, 2025 at 18:57 #1727142Great last minute win for Brackley, no winning bets though.
The Wires..Great nickname, I do work for wire companies, but I think most have closed there now, my last visit there was to a French company, that relocated the product to China pre covid.Happy Southport have made it for another season in NLN, three matches for Brackley to either win it or face another play off lottery.
I see Bristol Rovers maybe in trouble..
April 12, 2025 at 19:46 #1727148I travelled through Warrington on the train home. I am not sure where exactly the football ground is located but the large rugby league stadium is clearly visible.
I think the Wires is the rugby team’s nickname but it gets used for the football team as well. Warrington Town can look forward to a local derby with their rivals Warrington Rylands in the Northern Premier League next season.
After the bright start it was a pity Southport’s form fell off a cliff. It is a sign of how poor the bottom four have been this season that Southport have been awful since mid November but were never really close to the drop zone in terms of points.
We could still influence the title race if we take points off Kidderminster. But we need to so some serious rebuilding in the summer. We started well but got lucky with Farsley imploding and Rushall, Warrington and Needham Market simply not being good enough for this league (although the latter could still overhaul Radcliffe).
April 13, 2025 at 08:18 #1727158Bury are almost promoted from the NWCFL. They won yesterday as did their rivals Lower Breck, which means Bury are 3 points clear going into the last match. Their goal difference is 5 better but given how Lower Breck are scoring for fun at the moment, Bury will probably need to take a point against Burscough to make sure.
Promotion will put them into one of the Northern Premier lower divisions at Tier 4. I reckon they will win it. I have speculated on the Southport fan forum that unless we get some quality into the club during the summer, we could be welcoming them to Haig Avenue in the Northern Premier League the season after next.
Bury’s near neighbours Radcliffe are still not safe in NLN but they have a good opportunity to ensure their status when they play doomed Farsley on Sunday night. A win there will condemn Needham Market to the drop and a return to the Southern League.
April 13, 2025 at 19:17 #1727205Yes CAS Southport will have a say in the league outcome. I know Brackley will be looking for a BIG favour from Southport in the last game of the season.
Scunny are Evens, Kiddy 15/8 with Brackley the outsider at 21/10 (Billies).
The fixtures for Scunny are the hardest, so with a neutrals hat on, Kiddy look like winning the title.
Hereford are the team that will have the biggest say in the title now, playing the top two, and trying to firm up their own play off place.April 16, 2025 at 06:40 #1727360Radcliffe defeated Farsley Celtic 2-1 last night to ensure their safety and condemn Needham Market to relegation.
It means Southport are now 20th in NLN, one place above the relegation zone (but thankfully safe).
A former football league club, now just one place away from dropping into Tier 3 of the non league. A complete and utter humiliation.
April 16, 2025 at 23:29 #1727435Southport won the Lancashire Challenge Trophy tonight, defeating the mighty Bacup Borough 3-0 in the final. A team which plays in Tier 6 of the non league.
It is the Southport’s 12th victory in the competition, including 4 of the last 6. Only Chorley, with 18 victories, has won it more often.
I would have preferred a half decent season in the league but a win is a win.
April 17, 2025 at 08:21 #1727449No open top bus tour for Southport?
