Disappointing for Brackley last night. I will not be surprised if Kidderminster win the league. They have an easy fixture on the last day of the season anyway…

It should be an easy 3 points for Scunthorpe on Saturday. Last night, Southport managed to lose 1-0 at Haig Avenue to Warrington Rylands in the Liverpool Senior Cup. A team currently in 9th place in the Northern Premier League.

Now it transpires Peter Mitchell, the Chairman, has resigned as a director of the charity he founded which is the club’s majority shareholder and under investigation by the Charity Commission.

I hope Buxton beat Needham Market on Saturday and as good as make us mathematically safe.

I was online listening to the match last night, Kiddy scored after 4 mins, Brackley had a few chances but didnt take them.
Looking at the run in for the top 3,
Brackley’s last six matches are against those in the lower half, with three of those in the bottom five.
Kiddy play four teams in the upper half and of course Southport in the last fixture.
Scunny like Kiddy play four in the top half, with matches away to Kings Lynn and Hereford, plus of course Saturdays fixture at home to Southport.
    As for points.
    Scunny 78
    Kiddy 76
    Brackley 74
I suspect it will be close going into the last round of matches, but Id reckon on Brackley needing five wins and a draw to have any chance now, which would give them 90, Scunny to get 11 to make it 89 and Kiddy to falter and take 9 so onto 85.

Not much chance of the Sandgrounders doing the double. Scunthorpe are the biggest certainty of the weekend. 4/9 with Betway looks like an early Christmas present, if you don’t mind lumping on odds on chances. I would have them about 1/4 minimum.

After Tuesday night’s cup exit, David Morgan, (Southport’s interim manager) openly questioned how much effort some of the players were putting in. A statement by the club’s Chief Executive about the process to appoint the new manager and the plans for next season has not exactly inspired confidence amongst the supporters either.

I hope Buxton beat Needham Market today. At least that would edge us closer to mathematical safety.

Scunthorpe 2 Southport 0 at half time. Told you that 4/9 was gift wrapped.

Never mind the 1/4 I mentioned. Scunthorpe should have been 1/9.

I was expecting a few more in the second half, either Scunny took it easy or Southport played better.

Buxton won for you today, the only worry for Southport maybe the money side as to staying up.
Brackley did what they could to maintain third place and try to keep up the pressure on Scunny and Kiddy who both won, five matches to go. All three play away next week.

Brackley won and the Cobbs – Cambridge match was drawn.

Good to see the bets back in profit. :yahoo:

Based on the comments on fan forum, we actually played OK apart from two poor defensive errors which caused the goals.

Oxford City at home next week. They just happen to have run into form. I won’t be going due to it being Grand National day.

Thats good to know Cas, there is hope for Southport’s future in NLN. All Brackley can do is just keep winning and cross fingers. Oxford City dont play on grass, so perhaps some of their form is due to that, well I hope so as Brackley play them over easter at our home.
Northampton should be safe from relegation this season and there is a couple of home fixtures where the elusive 4-1 home win may just happen.
Banbury, while I have stopped punting on them, are still one of the leading teams in not conceding goals and the manager is hoping to keep the squad together for next season. But they are looking to move from total fan ownership to an investment owner. If that can happen, then hopefully they can get back up to the NLN.
Enjoy Aintree, Im back to France for the third time this month..and too think I was going to take a family holiday there this year..at least Ill be able to translate the menu’s now. B-)

Thanks, I am only going on the Thursday. National day is best spent at home.

Banbury sound like they are making the right decision if they get a good investment.

Still all to play for at the top of NLN. Southport may have a say in it, given we play Kidderminster at Haig Avenue on the final day. I hope we are safe by then and can just relax and give it a go. It would be good to end a disappointing season on a high note.

Banbury are in a moment of turmoil, the lease on the ground expires after next season. But the company that bought the ground, have had planning permission denied due to flood risk. So potentially there is a long shot of buying the ground back. My first match there was around 1967, against Gravesend and Northfleet. I believe Roy Hodgkinson was playing for them at that time.
Just hope some one can see the potential in them as they do get good support when things are going well.
Where as Brackley are financially backed by a rich guy for some reason..

    Tuesday night.
    Northampton V Rotherham
Rotherham have just fired Steve Evans, so with two days to the match, not much time to sort out the team for the new incumbent.

Hoskins has started to find the net now so
    Hoskins first goal 3@10s
    Dyche first goal 1@66s
    Dyche anytime 2@28s
    Cobbs to win 4-1 2@66’s

As Banbury are also playing Tuesday away to Lowestoft, the Northampton and Banbury double looks good. Lowestoft are towards the bottom of the league and with the management change at Rotherham, the 5.05/1 looks ok

Curzon Ashton did Southport a favour last night by defeating Needham Market 3-2. That means the latter will need to win all 4 of their remaining games to finish above the Sandgrounders. I suppose Rushall Olympic could still do so as well but they would have to win all 5 of their games – and one of them is against Needham Market.

Oxford City won again last night. After getting drawn into the relegation battle, a run of victories has secured their safety. Their win pushes the Sandgrounders down to 19th place. And they arrive full of confidence at Haig Avenue on Saturday!

At least we have to play relegated Warrington on Easter Monday, a team we have already beaten 3 times this season. It might be enough to stop us from finishing in a humiliating 20th place. Radcliffe (currently 20th) welcome Scunthorpe at home on Saturday but have winnable games with Farsley and Alfreton upcoming.

Not a good night for me yesterday, Nolan kept the team in the dressing room for an hour after the abysmal performance. The folks on the forum are getting unhappy and counting back the years to the last time we had four managers in a season (including Temps). With the Nene Derby against Peterborough on Saturday, our most bitter rivals.. He needs a big result or the fans will turn on him, Rob Page got the sack after a defeat there, wonder what he did after..I honestly expect Boro to thrash us..big time..

Anyway Banbury, managed a win last night, away to Lowerstoft 2-5, that has broken the sequence of 83 matches without scoring 3 goals. They did have a young lad from Solihull Moors on loan who scored twice in the first 25 mins, not bad for a debut.
Have a good day at Aintree, its was Potters Charm on Boxing day? Maybe the other Potter will for you this time.

Got back from me travels and I see KSV 1919 had a great match tonight, SV Lafnitz, scored 4 goals. Unfortunately for Lafnitz they were 5-1 behind at half time, and the final score was KSV 1919 6 Lafnitz 4, what price for that??
    Home win returned 9.75

Northampton under Kevin Nolan have become disappointing now, another false dawn.
Posh V Cobbs Saturday is the second most important match of the season, the other being the home one.
Odds are Home 5/6 Draw 11/4 away 3/1
Our form is crap and the Barry Fry Circus are on the roll to Wembley. I expect a good old fashioned thrashing.
    Correct scores, yes bingo time.
    Posh to win
    4-0 1@28S
    5-0 1@66S
    5-1 1@66S
    Home win 10@5/6

Brackley away to South Shields in NLN, well Brackley need the win to keep up with Scunny and Kiddy, this is the match in the remaining fixtures Id expect to draw. Odds for the draw 11/4.

As Banbury have scored goals.. :yahoo: this new lad upfront hopefully can fire Banbury to another win. Banbury win odds 2/1 against Leiston in the Southern League Central.

    Win treble
Fry’s mob, South Shields and Brackley Draw and Banbury to win
