Personally, it may take a little time adjusting to this new set-up. It seems, well how can I put it; less informal than the previous one… and slower, much slower !
Taking an age for pages to change, whereas everything used to be ultra quick.
I’ll perservere in the mean time.

September 30, 2009 at 13:36 #250910Thanks for all the great feedback and support.
Loading speed is top priority and is being worked on as I write. We’ll communicate progress on this and all the other comments as we progress.
September 30, 2009 at 13:38 #250911I’d second many of the observations on browsers so far – for me the site is appreciably slower than it ever was previously using any flavour of Internet Explorer, requiring a wait of 3-5 seconds before the sidebars can be moved. However, it’s Billy Whizz when viewed in Firefox 2.0 or 3.0.

September 30, 2009 at 15:31 #250922At itme of posting .. veerrry slow.
The days don’t load and the page won’t scroll .. I will try later from home ..
If things get any worse I might need to do something here at work ..
September 30, 2009 at 15:56 #250927Would echo most of the previous comments – biggest irritation is the load speed.
Having said that I have only used it on a racecourse network or mobile broadband connection so far – neither of which are fast.
Will give it another try when I get home tonight.
Whilst I appreciate teh comments re using alternate browsers to IE ….. IE is still the most universally used browser and if there is a design issue with IE then it needs to be looked into.
The new design is good and fresh – any change takes time to adjust to – apart from the load speed the changes are good.
One other minor gripe account details do not display correctly – trying to change my e-mail address a box about 2 pixels wide appears in which to enter the new address.
September 30, 2009 at 16:08 #250930I use IE so, rest assured, we’ll make sure it works on that platform!
September 30, 2009 at 16:26 #250931Much slower now for me on Google Chrome, has been fine until now.

September 30, 2009 at 16:43 #250935AngloGerm…I like it…
the site is very, very, very slow for me I’m afraid. I know I don’t post much anyway and am very new to TRF, but I won’t have the patience nor time at the rate this is going. Hope it gets better, cos I love reading here…great site.
Regards

September 30, 2009 at 16:56 #250938First look………….I like it
Very clear and clean, I like the big writing on the forum topics on the index page.
Now let’s see if it dumps me when I leave the site or keeps me logged in………..
But on looks……….smashing !
September 30, 2009 at 17:17 #250940Given that a few people have mentioned how the ‘Hot Forum Topics’ box dosen’t seem relevent. May I suggest moving the stickys from the Horse Racing section into that box and renaming it if desired.
As, at present unlike on the old board were the stickys were clearly identifible, on the new board they simply appear the same as every other topic and imv in doing so detract from the main message board.
September 30, 2009 at 18:39 #250950It is somewhat slower this afternoon but still okay in Firefox and Chrome.
Try disabling Flash animations to speed it up:
User Control Panel/Board Preferences/Edit Display Options/Display Flash Animations/No
September 30, 2009 at 18:58 #250951Dumping the "avatars" would help to speed up the site and also make it neater.
The site is slow at times even with Firefox and "Adblock" utilized.
September 30, 2009 at 21:53 #250964Really miss the ability to just view the posts made since my last visit
September 30, 2009 at 21:59 #250965I don’t know whether this is a problem with the new site, or with my browser (settings (never visit them)).
In the past, when one clicked on a link to a webpage within a post, the new webpage would open in a new tab.
Now, it replaces the Racing Forum with the new link.
September 30, 2009 at 22:33 #250968Only a small gripe but the login box just looks like it was stuck on in a random place as an afterthought.
And when you login you are taken to a page confirming you have logged in which seems a bit pointless.
September 30, 2009 at 22:47 #250970Well the site change brought Jim out of the woodwork if nothing else. Where would the site be without him and his clock.
The advertising bar on the side is far too big and prominent and the site is slower than a Ted Caine novice chaser but apart from that I’m sure we’ll all get used to it.
September 30, 2009 at 23:50 #250980Excruciatingly slow on everything I try…
