Am in Australia for a few weeks, wondering if there is any way I can watch racing on my PC (or on television?!). Currently RUK is not licensed to broadcast here, very annoying. Haven’t tried ATR yet but it will probably be the same. Any help very much appreciated!!!
January 15, 2010 at 19:01 #270116You can probably do it through Betfair or some other betting firm once you place a bet?
January 15, 2010 at 19:06 #270119No help if you are already in Australia but if you’ve not left yet then buy a Slingbox and connect it to your sky box at home. That way you can watch your home TV (including any special channels you subscribe to, like RUK) on any computer worldwide.
I often watch ATR/RUK via my laptop when in the states.
You can change channels easily although this does change the channel back at home which may annoy your family!
January 15, 2010 at 22:19 #270146Details a bit vague at present Dandan but ATR and RUK have teamed up and Aussies will be able to watch the best of British very soon.
ATR is already available down under from Tuesday through to Saturday on the red button service !January 16, 2010 at 00:54 #270162Connect to sites through a UK based proxy server. Google one.
January 24, 2010 at 06:58 #271760Thanks for these replys. Am currently looking into finding a UK proxy site to do this. I wasn’t aware I could get ATR behind the red button in Oz, how do I do this? I have access to Foxtel digital at the minute.
January 24, 2010 at 09:05 #271765Your only avenue for UK racing (and scatterings from Ireland) is broadcasted by Sky Channel every Tuesday-Saturday night, and their programme is dominated by flat racing.
Online feeds are your best bet.

Betfair is your best bet but if you bet on Australian football or racing I think you need a second account. You have to bet to watch with Betfair and if you bet on Uk racing you can’t use your Australian wallet to do so.

Doubt if a website proxy will work. They aren’t the safest to be using and they are as slow an Asian express train. You get to the site but then when you try to watch it most likely won’t work……unless someone knows differently.
Hide my Ip is supposed to be undetectable but that’s also nonsense……you instal it and go to a what’s my IP site and it will detect it so if they can so can RUK.

The bullet train reaches 277 mph – is that slow?
A web proxy will work. It is used successfully by many people every day.
There can be a safety issue with some bogus sites but there are many ranking sites on the web that warn how to avoid them. A minority of free proxy sites, if under-resourced, can be slow and sometimes unavailable. Most are fast enough though. A small fee guarantees speed and reliability. ATR and RUK are relatively slow video streams for modern broadband speeds and will work through a proxy. It is physically impossible to detect your home computer IP once connected to a webserver through HMIP as your home IP is hidden behind Hide My Ip’s relay site.
January 25, 2010 at 14:05 #272014Rob, if you could recommend or PM a proxy site that would be great.
I don’t think Betfair are licensed to show live racing streams in Oz, I might be wrong?
I sure hope I get this sorted by Cheltenham!!
