So far this weekend the following horses have either bean beaten or ran absolute stinkers.
Cappa Bleu
Shacklesbrough
Cranky Corner
Stormy Weather
Noble Alan
Aiteen ThirtyThree
Royal CollongesWhile the flat stole the show with such a brilliant Abbey performance, the National Hunt failed to give us one horse to look forward to?
I know Dunguib won , but winning a maiden hurdle at Galway at 1/7 isnt worth mentioning for me..
Watching this weekends racing makes me wish it was the start of April not the end of October
October 25, 2009 at 16:12 #255312Reve de sivola was the one to beat. You can take 1833 off that list.

Dunguib what an awkward headcarrige, from start to finish he constantly pulled to the left and guessed a 1 or 2 fences.
Matt Chapman "This could win Champion Hurdle, let alone Supreme Novices".
Good luck with that

October 25, 2009 at 16:40 #255331Can knock both Cranky Corner and Royal Collonges off the list too.
Nobody will find any improvement from a Mullins bumper horse – not least one that’s moved to Jonjo and Royal Collonges was priced up totally on breeding and his price had nothing to do with what he’d done on the track, other decent horses in there most notably (and it showed) a Tom George debutant.

October 25, 2009 at 18:44 #255356The Old Roan Chase – Monet’s Garden. This made it a good weekend, it is what the National Hunt game is all about. All the horses on your list are nobodies compared to teh likes of Monet’s Garden!
October 25, 2009 at 19:17 #255366To paraphrase the original post :
So far this weekend , the following posters have provided totally mindless posts and threads that indicate a complete failure to understand the sport and indicate that they are blatant losers.

October 25, 2009 at 19:29 #255368To answer the question, No, this was not the worst ever weekends National Hunt action.
Chepstow, 1884 should never have been that price – this was a grade 2 hurlde and the winner was a fantastc price. Even the second, Frascati Park had excellent bumper form.
I thought all of the Nicholls runners looked as though they needed there first run and I refer to an earlier thread that I statrted about not following previous theories.
Nicholls horses need the run evident by all of his runners this weekend. Even his winner at Wincanton had the best form and should have been fav looked as though needed the run regardless of winning.
There were some very good performance. Monets Garden – 12/1 what a price.
Noble Alan – Fell – well thats racing, certainly this horse has a future.
Thought the Ian Williams horse which won at Aintree is an improver.
SONOWYOUNO landed a monster JP gamble – 6/1 early (although ladbrokes only ever went 3/1) openned on course 9/2 backed into 9/4, won a shade better than the margin suggested. This horse has got a big future.
Today at Aintree, Cappa Beu – needs further, thought Door Boy won well.
ALL OF NIGEL TWISTON DAVIS’ need the run.
TOBY JUG – awesome – will hill trophy at the festival? National?
Golan Way 12/1 e.w second was a great price for a horse which loves soft ground and a track where runners did not make up much ground to win.
October 25, 2009 at 19:49 #255373Dunguib what an awkward headcarrige, from start to finish he constantly pulled to the left and guessed a 1 or 2 fences.

You hardly expected them to be going fast enough for a horse of Dunguib’s abiility in a Galway maiden hurdle. When he gets a proper gallop in the Royal Bond he’ll be seen to much better effect.

Spot on Irish Stamp.
There’s a reasonable explanation for most of the defeats, alot of the horsse you’ve listed are simply not that good.
October 25, 2009 at 22:14 #255397Thought Mr Thriller created the best impression of the weekend. A 4YO beating some well-touted opposition. Judging by the write-up Alfie Sherrin gets in ‘One Jump Ahead’, he’s clearly well regarded..so to give that horse 9lbs and a good thrashing is a good way to start the season.
October 25, 2009 at 22:36 #255401Give Cappa Bleu another chance for goodness sake. 2 and a half miles round the Mildmay on quickish ground is a world away from three and a quarter miles round Cheltenham. they have been desperate to get a run into him for a fortnight and this might have been a last resort.
Might still make up into the nice staying chaser some of us think he will be, just over a longer trip, a stiffer track and a bit more cut in the ground.
Winner and second could well turn out to be really good horses in their own right. Door Boy won well.
All in all whilst not the very best weekend of jumping it was also a very long way from being the worst. That’s racing.
October 25, 2009 at 22:55 #255405No. It will be in mid winter, when all the tracks are either flooded or frozen, with not a hope of any racing, and then the wife announces the in-laws are visiting unexpectedly!!!
