After pulling up in yesterday’s Gold Cup he had to be put down this morning.

Simon Crisford, Godolphin’s racing manager, said, "Unfortunately he had to be put down this morning as he sustained quite a bad fracture to his cannon bone.

"We were trying to do surgery to save him but he couldn’t be saved."

Looked as though he had some potential and I must admit the news came as something of a shock. Having seen the horse go into the horse ambulance he did not look that bad, however we all know how complex a horses leg can be.

That’s terribly sad news; I was hoping that he would be ok. the highs and lows of racing…..R.I.P. Veracity.

I’m really sad about this, such a beautiful horse with a great attitude.

Sorry to keep harping on about the BBC, but I wish that they would have told us about this.
We’re adult enough to take bad news, aren’t we?

Anyhow, very sorry to hear about Veracity. He looked to be about to run a big race when disaster struck.
