Never mind what may have been posted elsewhere: L33 has said he will put up some pre race selections on this forum. It is not every day that a decent VDW bet comes along, so you may need to be patient, but in the fullness of time you’ll see how well at least one VDWer can do.

OK Guys – final warning on this thread.
I’ve just spent time I don’t really have deleting a variety of references to other forums, exclusively posted by ‘new’ TRF members all of whom joined shortly after one another and most of whom have been posting almost exclusively on this thread. I’ve been patient on this one as I can see that the subject matter is of general interest (indeed I find it an interesting subject myself) but I’m not overly keen on TRF being used in a crass manner to highlight/draw attention to other forums. I’ve already made this clear earlier in the thread, to no effect it seems. Other TRF’ers highlighted what they felt was up early on but I felt the interest in the thread outweighed the concerns.
So, for all the numptys among us, and with immediate effect, I will have no hesitation in banning anyone posting any links/hints/suggestions relating to other commercial enterprises or foums on this, or indeed any other, thread. This will be solely at my discretion and my decision will be final, etc, etc.
(Although if the rubbish being spouted here is anything to go by they’d be well advised to stay away

This is your forum and as such you obviously do as you see fit, however I think you are being somewhat paranoid. The mention of another forum was in context with the discussion that was taking place, it wasn’t an advert or indeed SPAM by an organised group of newbies, as you are suggesting.
If you are confident about your forum what have you got to fear from the mention of another that is relevant to the topic of conversation? If I go down my local and mention another pub and what happened there last month would it be right to ban me?
It is the quality of content that wins on the Internet. Controversy and diversity are both necessary in order to have a lively and active discussion group and I would suggest that given the amount of interest and new members that this thread has generated you should embrace the fact that the subject of VDW, whether it floats your boat or not, is being discussed here at the moment, and not elsewhere.
No problem with discussion on VDW here L33. Indeed I welcome it, as it is an interesting subject. It’s not the subject matter that I have a problem with. Also, ordinarily, I don’t have any problem with other sites being mentioned, as others will bear testament. However some of the contrived hints to another forum were becoming tiresome (4 or 5 posts in a row all bearing the other forum’s name) and it became obvious that people were either having a larf or genuinely spamming. Either way it’s not on and I’ve said my piece on it. (btw – If you did go to your local and tapped customers up about events in the pub down the road then, generally, you’d be shown the door fairly quickly).
I’m not deleting the thread as I think there is interesting stuff on it and I’m quite happy to let it continue, so long as the nonsense stops.
It’d be good also not to have ten pages debating my comments above either, that would be even MORE tiresome than the posts which prompted them!
Right – let the VDW disassembling continue. Go at it.

If you felt so strongly about other boards being mentioned why didn’t you just delete the name and replace it with dots so other interested parties could follow the theam of the therad. I also think posters can and should put a bit of humour in their posts and surley you cant object to that.
There was nothing in what I saw that indicated that posters were taking the p**s out of this board. I think it’s rather a good board.

Hensman how often do find a vdw bet on average per week and what kind of strike rate do you achieve?

This turf season I have so far bet in 66 races. I am quite sure there were numerous other decent betting opportunities but it is a question of time and often I don’t have any for midweek cards.
The 66 races have not been evenly distributed over the six months or so. Few prior to May, and only three so far in October and not many more expected.
Not having posted any of my bets on the forum, if I answered your second question (strike rate) it would be unsubstantiated assertion and criticism of it as such would be both likely and, more important, fair.

Before the disassembling of VDW takes place I’d like to know where I stand?
Firstly, believe me, I’m not tapping up or spamming customers for any other board!
Secondly, Are you saying that posters using your board can only debate a current affair if you agree? If for instance there were to be 10 pages of debate about the actions of the moderator following the deletion of posts, would you delete those also?
It may be tiresome for you to read, however, so is having posts deleted.
Please don’t take this the wrong way as I’m not trying to be awkward or provocative, but given your 2 references to me ‘spamming’ another discussion forum I’m wondering if I’m wasting my time posting?

Straightforward – posts with references to other forums will generally either be deleted in full or in part.
Other posts are fine. I do not edit/delete or modify posts unless they contain stuff which is not allowed under the terms and conditions of the forum.
Stick to the guidelines is all I ask and all will be well for everyone.

I have Amarna as the classiest horse placed to win in the race. It is a pity about the price.
Both Kinsya and Prince Of Thebes have the class to be competative, both look placed to win.
I’ve not yet decided how to bet this race as Amarna is going to be short and there are only three places even on the exchanges.

I think this is the best thread on here for years. Reference to other forums is ok because most of them are pish and closed shops to new members, ie the residents dont speak to you and if they do its only to accuse you of spamming, or being someone they collectively dont like.
