Purchased by a bloodstock agent representing owners who want to win the Melbourne Cup – hence she is being transferred to David Hayes’ stable at Flemington to begin the journey.
Saoirse Abu will join Sheikh Mohammed’s broodmare squad and Arch Swing heads to Shadwell.

December 5, 2008 at 03:35 #194461Well its been the year for losing good 3 year olds. But an owner i know thought he could get it for 350,000 ended up getting sold for 950,000 so im sure there was a ring to his racing manager.
December 5, 2008 at 03:41 #194469A good return on the 5,000 gns she cost as a yearling.
December 5, 2008 at 03:44 #194472Well done to Richard Fahey and Galaxy Racing too for their success with Anna Pavlova, she was sold for 650,000 gns and will be covered in France by either Manduro or Dalakhani.
December 5, 2008 at 05:47 #194495I’m sad to see UH go over to Australia. I felt she really had the potential to win a good Group race over here next season and enjoyed watching her in the Leger.
However, if she goes over to Aus and wins the Melbourne Cup i’ll be very happy

Interesting indeed MDeering, thanks. Not so sure Australia will suit as she gives the impressions softer conditions will suit her well, and would imagine she’d be more likely to find those conditions up here.

Seconded. Lovely mare and top class under her optimum conditions.

I think everyone’s trigger-happy in finding a European stayer for the Melbourne Cup. I, too, thought she was better off on softer going and she’ll get none of it here.
December 5, 2008 at 16:07 #194553I find it baffling that you can make assessments regarding her ground preferences after just the 4 runs. It seems more likely that she needs a good test of stamina, and the Newmarket race didn’t provide enough of one because of a combination of the ground and gallop rather than her failing to act on the ground. Providing she’s campaigned over the correct trips, which sounds likely if she’s been purchased as a Melbourne Cup prospect, I think she’ll do okay.
December 5, 2008 at 16:20 #194559DavidJohnson,
Not sure is it my post you are replying to, but I said ‘she gives the impression’ that softer conditions suit better, not that I considered that it was a definitive assessment. My reasons for this are how she has acted on softer conditions and her action. Hope that clears it up.
September 3, 2009 at 07:47 #246858Will make her Australian debut for trainer David Hayes in the 1m+ handicap at Flemington this Saturday.
One of her opponents interestingly, is the former Cumani horse Speed Gifted.
