I was totally taken by surprise about this sad news as he ran a good race and looked OK at the finish. I have no idea what happened subsequently. I had taken note of him originally as I was puzzled why he was in this cross country bank race at the Punchestown Festival. His form figures were not inspiring (one point-to-point win)and included a few F’s. However he actually ran well and only lost 2nd near the finish post. I was relieved! Now he’s no longer with us …
I’ve checked Irish Point-to-points and he hasn’t run since Punchestown. I also saw that he’d finished 2nd in the bank race last season so that’s why he was fancied in this year’s race.May 9, 2026 at 13:47 #1766398I don’t know what happened, such a pity – I always breathe a sigh of relief if they get round the banks course unscathed as there are sometimes horrible falls. I had thought that it was a jockey (Jordan Gainford?) that got the worst of it in one of the banks races this time and that all the horses were ok.
You never know I suppose.
Or it could have been a coincidence and something completely different at home. - AuthorPosts
