I don’t like blowing my own trumpet but I did mention Stage Star in the ‘One To Watch’ category at the end of the year. Funnily enough, nobody voted for my suggestion. Oh well … I had the winner
March 16, 2023 at 14:02 #1639854I wonder if Banbridge’s connections are now wishing they had run him?
March 16, 2023 at 14:09 #1639859Best ride won the race
Wouldn’t be surprised if appreciate it picked up a niggle, don’t remember him hanging like that before
Great for connections of the second

I know we are!
Time suggests it’s no worse than Good to Soft too.

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 16, 2023 at 14:32 #1639873Great performances from winner and second, Davy Russell interviewed on RTV didn’t think Mighty Potter hanging up the run in was a problem, said just not good enough on the day!
March 16, 2023 at 14:36 #1639877Russell had to pull Mighty Potter out when Appricate it got past him and the horse took off to the right
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 16, 2023 at 14:38 #1639879He was well beaten before the hanging and as Davy said he’s done it before
Hard to make excuses for him
Maybe he just doesn’t like the undulating track

That’s the point. I know I am pocket talking but to pull out on the day of the race is a strange decision. I could understand it if it had rained non stop for the last two days and they had been walking home. But it has been nothing like that.
Nicholls has always said he thinks Stage Star needs decent ground and it went against him in the Wednesday last year. But he took his chance today.

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 17, 2023 at 19:44 #1640355Stage Star is bred for 3 miles, his dam loved a trip and the sire required it.
I’d like to see them aim him at the King George as the early target next season.
