Time to reveal my 10 statements (which are true and which are a pack of lies)

1 In my last ten I revealed I went to Canada, on another trip I’ve been to Australia and swam the Great Barrier Reef.

FALSE This was a ex-workmate who lived in Australia for a period, went back for a mate of his funeral with his partner. While there they went to Great Barrier Reef and went snorkeling. He told me about this woman who asked the operator of the dive if she could touch the bottom, because she wasn’t a good swimmer.

2 I’ve also been to Greece.

TRUE While not been to mainland Greece, I have visited the Greek Islands of Corfu, Rhodes and Symi.

3 When as a child learning to swim, I nearly drown

TRUE As a kid, I think I was 7. Messing around in the local swimming pool with my ex-best mate with some floats while learning to swim. The float slipped out of my hands and I thought I be in trouble, so swam after it. It wasn’t until I was half way up the baths that I panicked, couldn’t restart my swimming and the Teacher had to jump in to save me.

4 Had the winner of the void National in a bet, and got paid winnings.

TRUE In my local Ladbrokes, saw this bet where they were offering a special bet for a woman to train both the Lincoln and the Grand National. A woman trainer did train the Lincoln winner that year, and when the National was void, but won by Jenny Pitman I argued that had the Lincoln part not won I would have thrown away my slip.

5 Had a Uncle with an unusual first name :He was called Welcome

FALSE but not entirely, he was my Great Uncle and on my mother’s side, Mum used to say that he claimed he was named after the mat on the door.

6 Played Dennis Taylor when he came to my local snooker hall for an exhibition.

FALSE Actually watched, the person he played broke then never got a shot in. He did a few trick shots too.

7 My first bet placed by me in person in a bookmaker, was when I was under the legal age

TRUE I usually got someone else to place a bet for me. However the was noone to place this bet, which was on TV so went down to my local bookies, put my bet on. Then went home and watch it win, I thought if I don’t draw attention to myself I get away with it. It was a patent and the horse I picked was NO BOMBS. The other two was picked at random and also won. I was about a month, maybe two off the legal age.

8 Had Neptune Collonges when he won the National, because I do any winning greys special bets.

FALSE I do that special bet on Greys normally, but missed it that year. I was on Paul Nichols other runner, NICHE MARKET. After his owner got on a rival forum.

9 Been shopping in Harrods when I visited London.

FALSE School I was with organized a trip to London for the family. Saw this posh shop which we thought was Harrods, but was Army and Navy store, still it was posher than the local Army and Navy store

10 Had a winning Placepot on the Grand National Meeting, on Grand National day itself.

TRUE The placepot is one bet I love, but only do it when the pot usually pays decent. The one at National, National day itself usually pays £10,000. However this year it wasn ‘t huge. Had 2 winners in the National, Smarty and Papillon.

Okay Neil, thanks for your replies and final classification.
As soon as I’ll come up with ten better statements I’ll place them. It might take me another 24-48 hours, so please be patient.

Maybe things could be mixed up, by having ten statements, at least one must be true and one could be false, but plausible and the rest can be any.

    Just a thought.

RR77, I agree with this, a change from 5/5 to any number would be better.
Obviously Chezza cant have any input.

I agree with Neil, as I was also asking Chezza for a change once we went to the 2nd round. 5 true and 5 false answers only result in multiples of two (winning points). That’s why the score can only be 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 which results in too many ties.

I’m feel like the the Russian Vito member in the thread. I think that in honour of Chezza,
who I miss a lot, it was his brainchild and personally I think we should stick with it or
maybe without the man himself having a vote, maybe it’s run it’s course?. Nevertheless
I’ll respect the will of the people.

BigG, I agree with both points, your an honourable man. Perhaps two sets of questions per participant and then finish..
Truthfully Id be struggling and asking strange questions, like whats the longest number of days Ive worn the same socks..

Should we say, that we take turns for the last rounds?

    LOL
    Just been very lucky, Landafar.
I knew I was going to work for my father after I left school, therefore didn’t need qualifications, so messed about while I was there.
Been to a few nice homes and met some famous people carpet fitting.
    Got some interesting relations.
Been Racing quite a lot and seen a lot of brilliant horses.
Been to stable and stud visits with a Racing Club…
And been in their quiz team with / against the great and good of Racing.

Otherwise, I’m a couch potato who doesn’t mix well socially and enjoys studying form so much, it makes me the most boring person you’d ever wish not to meet.

It’s you who’s been there (everywhere)… and done that.

Very kind of you sir, and I think that would perhaps be the way forward. There’s only
so much you can tell about yourself before your front door gets crashed at 6 in the
    morning

Ginge, ”It’s you who’s been there (everywhere)… and done that”
My mates say the same, its difficult to say to folks, that all i see are hotel rooms and shitty factories.
Seriously, I may travel a lot, but its no glamour job.
One thing i do see is poverty, and thats from places like USA, India, Saudi and so on. If any mates of mine say they are hard up, I just you dont know the meaning. Thats not trying to disrespect anyone.
Obviously I cant say too much..Ill need bits for future questions..
Like how many walls does a hotel in ..hmm..Binzhou have.. :rose:
