No market yet, but entries are out…

Definitely a race that I usually overthink, and tend to get it very wrong. With that in mind, it might make sense for me to concentrate on Frontal AssaultLooks on a very fair mark, has already shown that this type of race would be ideal, and if he doesn’t take up his entry in The Florida Pearl, then he’s an obvious big player. I’d imagine he’d be very popular, and short enough odds.
Of his stablemates entered, Coko Beach appeals most, and it’s just a case of getting the timing right for him this season, as he’ll surely be winning a big prize.
Since his win in The Paddy Power, School Boy Hours hasn’t had much luck, but he remains of big interest to me, and this looks a realistic option to me.
Of the Mullins entries, Egality Mans, and Fighter Allen look really interesting. Egality appeals most on his Punchestown run, and he went in the notebook that day as one for a top handicap. Fighter Allen has to put his last run behind him, but I’m happy to see him pitched into something like this. Jumping needs brushing up, but I’d seriously consider him here, though I’d be equally interested in him for The Paddy Power Chase over Christmas, if this is the route he’s going.
No bet for now (which isn’t really a surprise, considering there isn’t a market), but that quintet are definitely the ones I’ll concentrate on. No idea what I’ll do if they all go.
November 23, 2022 at 13:03 #1624264At a glance i like:
Velvet Elvis
Elgality Mans

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 23, 2022 at 22:35 #1624310Frontal Assault at 9-2 was my first bet, and if he does line up, I’ll also cover Defi Bleu
November 24, 2022 at 12:03 #1624348Frontal Assault 4-1 to go with Rambranltjac if he lines up on the day
November 26, 2022 at 09:13 #1624539Of note: Coko Beach gets 19-year-old Parker Hendriks aboard for his first mount in Ireland. Hendriks just completed his first professional NSA season in which he earned the jockey’s championship. Good to see Elliott giving the young American chances, albeit on an outsider in this race.
Nice article on Hendriks from earlier this month https://www.postandcourier.com/news/young-american-set-to-be-crowned-jockey-champ-at-steeplechase-of-charleston/article_fed51d2c-5f7a-11ed-83e7-eb6ebdc389f1.htmlNovember 26, 2022 at 10:14 #1624545Defi Bleu at 18-1 is my main selection here, but I do like the look of Velvet Elvis as well, and I’ve also taken him at 9-1
November 27, 2022 at 03:15 #1624782I can see why frontal Assault is fav but blimey he’s short for a horse prone to jumping errors
He makes an early mistake could easily lose his rhythm and really struggle
A clean round he wins but how likely is that
The big dog loves deep ground and pulled well clear with the strongly backed fav in the munster national
He interests me at the prices
November 27, 2022 at 08:16 #1624801He is short FF but that is a lovely mark , I like Coko beach but I get the feeling he,s being primed for later in the season , Farclas is becoming frustrating but he,s off 145 today with a very decent claimer aboard , at bigger school boys hours is a horse to catch fresh , I could see him giving Walsh a nice spin
Farclas
School boys hours
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 27, 2022 at 10:57 #1624819Two against the field here:
Frontal Assault – Decent return at Galway and that was recent enough to think fitness is retained. A course winner and no problem with the trip as he’s run well over shorter and longer trips.
Flash De Touzaine – Nice comeback win 4 weeks ago, lightly raced over fences. The trip, track and going no problem.
November 27, 2022 at 11:53 #1624828I’ll throw a dart at Flash De Touzaine 11-1 bog ew 5 places
November 27, 2022 at 12:00 #1624829Unfortunately for me, the quintet on the original shortlist make it here.
With that in mind, should probably have sat it out, but went with a couple.
Frontal Assault still looks the most obvious, and may win in the manner of Run Wild Fred. I was on verge of taking 6’s when it got priced up, but waited too long.
Can’t split the Mullins pair of Egality Mans and Fighter Allen. Fighter Allen will be the harder one to take, but I’m hoping he has a nice prep here with a view to The Paddy Power at Leopardstown.
In the end, went with Coko Beach and School Boy Hours.
As I’ve said a few times, I suspect Coko Beach is a target horse of theirs, and jockey booking suggests that his main goal of the season isn’t this, but at 80’s, I’m happy to be wrong.
School Boy Hours is a proper regular of mine in these races, and though the market suggested last night that this wasn’t his day, I’m encouraged by the support for him this morning.
