Internet Focus (Robin Gibson) gives the forum a mention.

"loggers-on in search of a robust argument might have struggled on Saturday morning at 10.11 am- a busy time ,you might think-when the site showed 7 users online."

"Like Betfair, the site is dominated by a handful of heavy users who post frequently."

Nevertheless he does say there are well populated threads on the weekend’s big races and some genuinely interesting contributors. He gives a positive mention to the Q&A section.

Can’t imagine what so many punters would be doing on a busy Saturday morning that would preclude them from posting on a racing forum?

Oh I dunno…could be travelling to the races or lo and behold they might even have other things in there lives beside racing – kids football, going out with the wife or sleeping off a hangover!

Unlike many racing reporters, most of this sites users are not privileged enough to earn there living from racing. So people have limited timescales in which to research races and post on excellent sites like this. So at 10am yesterday I was swotting up before placing my bets by lunchtime. Quick post on here and then I spent afternoon with my girlfriend, just as I had done Friday night.

I can only presume Robin Gibson has no life!

Yep, Douginho, I was with my missus on a shoe buying expedition in Waltham Cross, she spotted a new treaded pair that will come in useful during the point to point season. We then had a nice coffee and croisant did a bit more shopping and were home in time to watch the Grand Prix qualifying before watching the racing – me alone, wife can’t stand sport at all.

Pardon me for me inconsiderate enough to be doing other things at 10.11am on a saturday morning. Tut, tut, the very thought.

Perhaps Mr Gibson, in his infinite wisdom, might like to let me know when I should be posting?

    Mr Gibson,

Got up at 6. Jumped into the family Barbour, Hunters and cap. Took my labradors, Freebie and Bean, out into the woods for a good look round, a jolly old November bracer.

Bumped into O Shaughnessy in the wood – told me about a big, back’rd son of Accordion out of a Kelso bumper winner for sale, ("big fat ar se on it, more scope than a doctors neck. A song it is going for").

Told him I’d ring him back as the family shares are victims this week, rather than victors. Had a tickly nip of Malt from the flask and brought down a couple of pigeons to hang for supper with Kitchener, m’trusty bird gun.

Came home, pleasured the bint while she was still asleep, took a gander at the Morning Line for a dekko at that feisty jockey’s wife and some Wetherby tips, had a full set with some top class black pudding fresh from the pig and then just as I was about to post some erudite words of wisdom to my TRF pals about O Shaughnessy’s gelding, I bleddy fell fast asleep in my favourite armchair. Drat. Another chance at fame gone west…

Seems odd that we fell the need to justify ourselves …but I do too!

Personally I was showing 25 people around Ferdy Murphy’s yard before going to the Charlie Hall meeting. Apologies for not being here!

Is it really important how many people are actually online at any one time? Surely it’s the content of the forum that’s important? How much time has he actually spent browsing the forum? Perhaps he should have joined under a pseudonym for a while and found out for himself how helpful and informative the people on this forum are and, above all how passionate they are about racing..and not just from a betting angle. [oops; thought I’d better edit out my spelling mistake; don’t want the forum to be accused of illiteracy as well..like; not many people on it and those that are can’t spell].

    Moe – Nail. Head. Hit.

I’m just glad at least that he didn’t appear to have examined – and had his view tainted of – TRF during National Troll Week last week… 8)
