Seemed a reasonable punt as I know there are plenty of plant allergies across the equine population.

Sorry couldn’t do it yesterday but I will sort out another question later this evening.

Which Cesarewitch winning trainer spent some time refereeing football in the Wiltshire County Football League?

I’ve got two in mind, but I’ll try first with Brian Meehan.

OK, my other choice was Alan King, based on the fact
that both of them train in that area. Of course it
could be someone from yonks back who doesn’t train
    now.

I’ll wait with baited breath

Well done aaronizneez, you’ve got it! I saw him reffing a match at Marlborough Town back in the 90s. I believe he also managed both Marlborough Town first team and the Ladies team for a while. His son is now first team coach.

An easy one as I can’t think of anything harder

Royalty won in 1967, a miner in 1972, a pop star in 1973, a real gem won in 2003 and Bigfoot’s mate won in 2005

The question concerns winning principals in the Hennessy Gold Cup.

Jeff KING was the winning jockey in 1967 as was Richard PITMAN in 1972. The winning trainer in 1973 was RICKY VALLANCE, who also had a No 1 hit on the popular music charts in 1960 with ‘Tell Laura I Love Her’.

On reflection, that might have been another Ricky Vallance.

Whatever, RUBY Walsh was the victorious rider in 2003. The 2005 renewal was won by Trabolgan ridden by Mick Fitzgerald and trained by Nicky Henderson. Maybe there’s a nickname in there somewhere for the Bigfoot reference.

THat sounds about right Seesider. I can’t believe I’ve looked through the
results of just about every top jumps race….National, Gold Cup and every
major Cheltenham race, the KG etc etc, just about the same on the flat and
I even went through such as the Kentucky Derby, Melbourne Cup……I better
stop there, I’m beginning to sound like a sad anorak (with some justification).

Needless to say, I didn’t check the Hennessy, even though it is coming up
    this weekend!!!!

    As Homer would say….. “D’oh” !!!

Seasider is correct. There was a program called Harry and the Hendersons where I believe Harry was a Sasquatch(Bigfoot)

    Thanks, aaron.

BigG – I was looking at past Hennessy winners the other day, being curious to know how many horses had won both that race and the Cheltenham Gold Cup (and in what order). In so doing the name of Ricky Vallance conveniently stuck in my brain, otherwise I might well have looked around in vain as did you. :)

    Question to follow shortly.
