Correctamundo… I was there and it was a very foggy day in LA. He went out to do his last piece of work and didn’t come back as normal. Instead with saw Kevin Bradshaw leading him home and we had to hold an impromptu press conference on the stairs of my office where Anthony Stroud (then racing manager) could announce his retirement etc.
Over to you Aaron..
December 30, 2013 at 10:57 #463477I have a feeling Aaronizneez has gone to the North Pole for the New Year on a igloo holiday.

January 4, 2014 at 19:15 #463935This place has gone down the pan.
Haven’t popped ( pooped?) in here for quite some time, so a belated happy new year to everyone.
So, would the answer to
"Which 19th Century inventor has won a couple of races at Cheltenham this season
?" be
Thomas Crapper
?
January 4, 2014 at 20:47 #463937Well done Hoofhearted, Thomas Crapper it is. Your go
January 4, 2014 at 21:28 #463938Oh dear, wasn’t aware that one had to put up a question if successful.
Okay then, a mix of music and horseracing.
The Rolling Stones song that references a specific horserace.
Song title and name of race, please.January 4, 2014 at 22:35 #463945From "Dead Flowers" – Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day…

Take a bow.January 5, 2014 at 18:15 #464012Thanks Hoofhearted – that was a very entertaining question.
In the last 20 years there have been 3 British classic winners "Bred in the Purple" ie by a classic winner out of a classic winner. Can you name them?
January 8, 2014 at 22:29 #464271I will give it a little while longer. One won the Derby and two won recent runnings of the St Leger..

January 8, 2014 at 23:24 #464277Is the Derby winner Lammtarra?
January 9, 2014 at 00:37 #464287I don’t think it’s the answer but it made me think what a beautifully bred stallion
Darshaan was by Shirley Heights (Mill Reef).
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 9, 2014 at 17:11 #464349Yes to Sixties Icon (Galileo/Love Divine) and yes to Lammtarra (Nijinsky/Snow Bride – the latter on disqualification).
Getting the other St Leger winner wins the prize. Here is a hint – his parents didn’t win British classics..
January 9, 2014 at 23:04 #464379Encke. By Kingmambo (French 2000 Guineas) out of Shawanda (Irish Oaks).
January 10, 2014 at 14:06 #464413Exactly MV, well done, over to you…
January 10, 2014 at 16:43 #464426This is just the sort of question where I could embarrass myself. Having only recently found this thread, I have not looked through all 56 pages to see if my question has been asked before. It could be that it is so well known that people will say: “Not that one again, is his imagination so bare?” Alternatively, the response might be: “Is he asking about something that happened in the eighteenth century?”.
Which horse won a hurdle race, then a steeplechase, then a flat race on three consecutive racing days? All of the races took place in England, and there were no interruptions to the sequence caused by bad weather, or ground conditions, or diseases like Foot and Mouth.
The horse’s name is only one word, but that one word is made up of two perfectly normal other words. Both of those words are in this post.
You will not find the answer in the Racing Post results archive, but it happened well within my lifetime.
