Missed that one; is it his second run? I backed him in a previous race. Won’t be 18/1 again, darn it!
December 15, 2009 at 23:01 #264026Unlucky with the list’s, Der Spieler (AngloGerman) at Navan yesterday. Beaten a short head at 18/1 on BF.
Wasn’t it just! And that after all of Bev’s fastidious searching for the perfect 4yo hurdle on the perfect going. Just ten yards shorter to travel and it would have been mission accomplished. Arsington Sodmonster.

it was a heartbreaker…was so hoping my dad could lead him in…still, we were happy enough with him…
December 16, 2009 at 00:28 #264030I apologize to Beverley for missing the race, and thatnks to Jeremy for letting me knowthat Der Spieler had run. Unfortunately, last Sunday found me either engrossed in the ‘Sandbahn-Paradies’ that is Neuss, or chatting away to Mr. Grayson on his fine radio show. Certainly, I’m not surprised by his good performance – I’ll say it again, I think he’s a Grade 3 winner at least in the making.
Beverley – I’ve let Christian know the result – I don’t think he’d have seen the race as he had a runner at Neuss at the same time, but when (not if!) Der Spieler wins a big prize in the near future, you’ll hear the cheers from Weilerswist to Wicklow!!!
December 16, 2009 at 15:28 #264104Are you putting him away for the Coral Cup now?
December 17, 2009 at 09:24 #264190no Coral Cup for Der Spieler Gerald…think 2m – 2m 2f is his limit at the moment.
he’s come out of the race fine…handicappers upped him 6 pounds..
there is a race called the Vincent O’Brien handicap hurdle, what kind of Irish handicap mark would you need to get into that?
could be making a quick return to the track, but only if he gives us the right vibes…
December 17, 2009 at 10:20 #264192Hi Beverley,
the lowest rating in the Vincent O’Brien County Hurdle in the last two years has been 127 (and 135 the previous year!), so you’d want an Irish rating of at least 120 to have a decent chance of getting in.
December 17, 2009 at 14:12 #264243thanks rory..
December 26, 2009 at 09:14 #265530Christian has just e-mailed me to say that Der Spieler runs today in the 1:40 at Limerick. It looks a pretty decent race, but we’ll see how he gets on.
December 26, 2009 at 15:58 #265610second again…. I’m starting to pull my hair out…

no, once more he did us proud, and came out of the race in fine fettle, which is the main thing. He jumps like a stag…unbelievable.
January 7, 2010 at 20:25 #268651Any updates. I was pleased to see Reve De Sivola win at Newbury. Needs to jump better to have a chance at the festival.
January 8, 2010 at 10:54 #268736Had a major software malfunction over Christmas,Lewey that involved having to get a new copy of Raceform-I sent down to me from Newbury (which was a saga in itself). I’m just getting back up to speed over the last few days and will update the list as soon as I can.
January 9, 2010 at 10:52 #268941Sorry to hear that, out of interest do you rate Raceform Interactive package, been toying with the idea of using it.
January 9, 2010 at 11:18 #268947Yep been using RI for years. Wouldn’t be without it. I use it mainly for data export and horse to follow lists. Their customer service is second to none.
January 28, 2010 at 21:53 #272610List is growing nicely, thanks to all the contributors so far. Drunken Sailor doing IC proud, came very close on the flat last Saturday at a huge price. Interesting "foreign" horses from Darren.
Won over in Dubai today for Luca Cumani. Real pity he was bought out of Paul Flynn’s because he’d have made a lovely hurdler this year.
January 30, 2010 at 22:27 #273127Well, three of mine didn’t do to well last time out, but this afternoon in Rome, the hurdling machine that is Frammassone has made it 8 from 8 over obstacles. Ridden as usual by German born Dirk Fuhrmann, Frammassone was always promiment in the 8 runner field, easing to the front 2 out and winning on the bridle by about 6 lengths. This was only a conditions race worth 25,000 Euros, but you can’t argue with the way this horse keeps winning. Let’s hope he runs on the big stage in France or England soon!
February 14, 2010 at 18:57 #276673Today, Frammassone tackled the Group 1 Rome Champion Hurdle. This was Frammassones first attempt at 4100 metres, and as you can see, he’s VERY impressive!!

The horse that leads at the start in the yellow sleeves is the French trained Le Marquis, winner of a decent Listed race at Cagnes last time out, so hopefully that gives the form some provenance. I’m not saying that Italian Group 1 hurdles form and British Group 1 hurdles form are the same, but I really think Frammasonne coule be more that a match for some of the top British and Irish hurdlers. Just look at the burst of speed after he jumps the last – it’s like watching Overdose!!!
April 6, 2010 at 15:23 #287938A very nice performance from
Agglestone Rock
(Aggie) at Wetherby this afternoon.
Gave weight to all, bar one, and led from start to finish, setting a decent pace. Ran – and jumped – them ragged.
Ears pricked for the entire race. Lovely horse.
