Just watched the Travers Stakes. Not sure I can believe what I saw. Juddmonte’s Arrogate destroyed a superb field which included both The Belmont and Preakness winners by 12 lengths in a record time. That was sensational.

August 28, 2016 at 00:39 #1261445I am not sure how superb the field actually was but he made them look second rate. Went hard from the front and just kept pouring it on. Visually the best I have seen this season it made Frosted’s stroll look ordinary.

Not a bad field I suppose; a couple of Classsic winners, a couple placed in Classics, the odd Group 1 winner, etc.
Exaggerator – 1st in G1 classic Preakness Stakes, 1st in G1 Haskell, 1st in G1 Santa Anita Derby, 2nd in G1 classic Kentucky Derby, G2 & G3 winner, 2nd in one other G1
Creator – 1st in G1 classic Belmont Stakes, 1st in G1 Arkansas Derby
Destin – 2nd in G1 classic Belmont Stakes, G2 & 3 winner
American Freedom – 2nd in G1 Haskell Invitational, G3 winner
Gun Runner – 3rd in classic Kentucky Derby,G2 winner x 2, G3 winner
Governor Malibu – 4th in G1 Classic Belmont Stakes
My Man Sam – 2nd in G1 Blue Grass StakesAugust 28, 2016 at 12:52 #1261475What is even more interesting is that Arrogat is not home bred. It is a bit unusual for Juddmonte to go to the sales, the horses they have are often children of one of their sires or broodmares. Just as well because their two sires in the US , First Defence and Mizzen Mast have not been great and they are getting on a bit.Only 4 races he has already paid for his purchase price.
August 28, 2016 at 15:01 #1261517As the comments below the line on the You Tube vid say – shades of Secretariat and Spectacular Bid. A one horse race. Amazing performance.
Arrogate & Flintshire on the same card – a big day for Juddmonte in the US.
