Was speaking to a mate today about the following quotation by Andre Fabre a few years ago. "The best I have trained, and the best by a distance". He made that quotation about Manduro, which took a few people by suprise.

A few people might turn their noses up at this one, but in peoples opinions whom woujld they nominate on the trainers behalf? Flat only please.

Yep – surely Rheingold for BW Hills.

Didn’t Dr O’Brien really like Golden Fleece or am I confusing with Eddery?

    Surely Aidan’s would be Camelot?

Feel free to add your list Cormack! After just three votes, only Frankel, Dubai Millenium & Canford Cliffs remain unaminous.

Royal Heroine might be high up on the Gosden pecking order. And Mark Johnston might put Shamardal up there.

What about a jumping list PC?

Yes i went for Shamardal myself Cormack, although i imagine "Braveheart" might go for Attraction bearing in mind he only had Shamardal during his juvenile season. I shall do a jumping one following this one.

    Cheers.

According the the TRF posters who have inputted, the following trainers greatest ever trained horses are as follows. Cheers to those who had an input to satisfy my curiosity.

    1. Sir M. Stoute – SHERGAR (2nd Singspiel)
    2. Sir H. Cecil – FRANKEL (2nd Oh So Sharp)
    3. A. Fabre – 4 way tie for PENNEKAMP, PEINTRE CELEBRE, ZAFONIC, HURRICANE RUN.
    4. S. Bin Suroor – DUBAI MILLENIUM (2nd tied Fantastic Light / Sakhee)
    5. R. Hannon – CANFORD CLIFFS (UNAMINOUS)
    6. Dr. V. O’Brien – NIJINSKY (2nd Alleged)
    7. J. Oxx – SEA THE STARS (2nd Sinndar)
    8. B. Hills – RHEINGOLD (2nd Haafhd)
    9. John Gosden – OASIS DREAM (2nd Ravens Pass)
    10. R. Charlton – SANGLAMORE (2nd Bated Breath)
    11. D. Weld – VINTAGE CROP (2nd Grey Swallow(
    12. M. Johnston – DOUBLE TRIGGER (2nd Attraction)
    13. J. Bolger – NEW APPROACH (St Jovite)
    14. A. O’Brien – Tied HAWK WING & GALILEO

In summary, although i’m well aware this is a small, if select(!), poll i personally find the following of particular interest:

    3. A. Fabre – it seems the great mans statement regarding Manduro is given little weight by the TRF faithful!
    7. Very close vote 5/4 for STS, much closer than i had anticipated.
    9. A suprise to me to see the first English winner of the Breeders Cup Classic not enough to claim first place past smart sprinter Oasis Dream. Perhaps evidence that the Breeders Cup is still not seen as overly prestigous by UK traditionalists,
    14. The enigmatic HAWK WING does enough to ensure a tie for first place, which will no doubt infuriate some as much as it delights others (such as myself). Also noteworthy was not a single vote for HIGH CHAPARRAL, a dual Derby, dual Breeders Cup Turf, and Irish Champion Stakes winning colt, who also beat the mighty Falbrav both times they met. Perhaps again this is, as with RAVEN PASS on number 9, a shake of the collective head towards the Breeders Cup.

National Hunt to follow under seperate thread for anyone interested in having a say or nosing at others sayings. Cheers again.
