Hi folks, with the jumps season pretty much over now, who has been your top 5 favorite horses of the season? Mine are in no particular order:
1. Denman
2. Lough Derg
3. Katchit
4. Tidal Bay
5. FranchoekApril 6, 2008 at 18:17 #1564991. Denman

Master Minded
Tidal Bay
Inglis DreverApril 6, 2008 at 18:43 #156508My selections almost identical to all the above (which makes about 8 i suppose)…but would add Binocular
Struck me as a particularly easy season for identifying real stars in each division
April 6, 2008 at 18:48 #1565111 Denman
2 Kauto Star*
3 Master Minded*
4 Lough Derg**
5 Voy Por Ustedes**** despite their recent ‘failures’ they are still good horses although not superstars
** Despite the best efforts of connections to over race him
*** Has run to his best most races and clinched a top five spot after Friday’s run, just edging out Inglis Drever
April 6, 2008 at 19:00 #156515Denman is undoubtedly number one but the rest in no particular order:
Denman
Katchit
Inglis Drever
Pouvoir
WhiteoakApril 6, 2008 at 19:01 #156516Denman – GC champion, excellent 3m+ machine, beat the best (Kauto)
Kauto Star – Imperious KG win, still the most versatile/talented NH horse in training
Katchit – Superb CH win against all odds
Master Minded – Exceptional QMCC winner
Binocular – Very talented hurdlerApril 6, 2008 at 19:03 #156518Denman
Katchit
Binocular
Ingles Drever
Voy Por UstedesNot sure about the last
April 6, 2008 at 19:24 #156525Denman – GC champion, excellent 3m+ machine, beat the best (Kauto)
Kauto Star – Imperious KG win, still the most versatile/talented NH horse in training
Katchit – Superb CH win against all odds
Master Minded – Exceptional QMCC winner
Binocular – Very talented hurdlerI’d agree with that except I’d have Inglis Drever in place of Binocular.
April 6, 2008 at 19:42 #156536What, no place for Contraband in any lists?
On what they have achieved this season mine are:
INGLIS DREVER – 1st 3 time world hurdle winner. Would have had an unbeaten season if sent to Punchestown and not Aintree.
DENMAN – continued unbeaten run over fences and best GC rating for a while
KATCHIT – first 5 year old CH winner for ages
TIDAL BAY – won authoratively at Cheltenham and followed up at Aintree in conditions which didn’t suit
MASTER MINDED – down in 5th place because he only produced it once but the CC performance was stunningApril 6, 2008 at 20:46 #1565481. DENMAN
2. INGLIS DREVER
3. KAUTO STAR
4. TIDAL BAY
5. OUR VICApril 6, 2008 at 20:56 #156551Franchoek was a tough choice, theres just something about him thats kept me following him. Its interesting to see how most people’s choices are almost the same!

Katchit
Inglis Drever
Binocular
Voy Por Ustedes.April 6, 2008 at 21:17 #156554Denman epitomizes everything that I love about chasers; Kauto Star was always controversial and exciting, Katchit was just a little superstar and Voy Por Ustedes has been a favourite for years and his win at Aintree for me was very emotional.Great to see Neptune Collonges do so well in the One Man colours. However, I do think the season was totally dominated by the Kauto/Denman race and I’ve realised that there isn’t a horse in the mould of Grey Abbey that has captured my imagination.

Thought someone may have mentioned Miko de beauchene after his emotional Welsh National win. Was a nice moment of the season for me.
Would go:
Denman
Katchit
Master Minded
Miko de Beauchene
