    Died recently aged 80.

I remember his black/white horizontal halved colours with yellow sleeves being carried by such as Bold Arrangement who Clive Brittain trained to finish second in the 1986 Kentucky Derby, Lobkowiez, Tony James and Kandidate.

One of my favourite sprinters was a grey/roan horse called Standaan who Richards also owned. What a wonderful sight he was blazing down the hill at Goodwood to win the Stewards Cup. Shame he only stayed about 3 Furlongs or he may have won many more races than he did.

Of topical interest at the moment, Tony owned Village Star who was trained in France by Andre Fabre to win the GP de Saint Cloud and later sired none other than Kauto Star.

A loyal owner who was highly regarded by the trainers he employed.
