Not going to be a hypocrite ..not a McCoy fan but hope him a speedy recovery,i suppose as others have hinted, maybe time now to slow things down and hand pick his rides.
Hes got a wife and baby now and hes won enough titles!!!
But get well soon Tony
January 13, 2008 at 13:12 #134910Is it true that he has a broken bone in his back?
They thought he might miss cheltenham, but i think he will be back.
Hope he recovers asap!January 13, 2008 at 13:30 #134912Echoing FoF’s sentiments (and boy does that feel weird!
), Cheltenham just wouldn’t be the same without AP.All the best.
January 13, 2008 at 13:34 #134913You’re right that happy smiling face would be missed.

January 13, 2008 at 13:48 #134916Someone as driven as McCoy can only retire from race riding when they’re actually ready to do so, that’s why I was so concerned that this may have been the case yesterday. It’s about more than just winning championships. This may be the start of a mental process whereby he starts to consider retirement.
January 13, 2008 at 14:12 #134921Friend of mine had a nasty fall from my horse doing XC, she fractured x2 bones lower back,…was in hospital 2weeks , and then home rest for 6wks, heal times vary from person to person , and im sure AP will be eager to get back riding as soon as able to do so… Best wishes to him
January 13, 2008 at 14:48 #134929I hope McCoy is ok, wish him well.
January 13, 2008 at 16:17 #134941This is McCoy we’re talking about – he’ll be at the festival. Normal recovery estimates are for mere mortals, and don’t apply to AP.

If he hand picked his rides, he’s hardly likely to turn down a ride on the favourite for a valuable h’cap chase.
Horse had never fallen under rules and jumped well to win its last three.January 13, 2008 at 18:44 #134960A lot of it is mind over matter, and if you are fit in the first place and determined to get back, you can push those limits. The 6 wks will be a general timeline for your average non-fit person who isn’t in a rush to get back. If you’re fit, your body will heal quicker and you can push yourself sooner. The Festival is at least 8 weeks away, barring complications I can easily see him being back and good luck to him.

Amen to that.
January 13, 2008 at 19:25 #134964Lingfield i was just talking in general..not to the last hour, min and second till he fell.
Feel free to pick the bones of that statement !
January 13, 2008 at 20:04 #134969And my guess is that he comes back and rides at least one good winner for Jonjo and for Pipe!
Some will not be pleased, I suppose.
