I’d normally defend jockeys to the hilt but that was awful!
January 17, 2007 at 13:02 #36108Was quite an eyecatcher wasn’t it.
January 17, 2007 at 15:09 #36109I backed Millfield Dreams and listened to the race on the radio.. haven’t seen the replay, what happened?

The horse got a really bad ride. Was dropped out last, kept to the inside and was weaving through beaten horses on the bridle, passing the post full of running. He clearly remains at the top of his game.
January 17, 2007 at 17:06 #36111I backed him as well, but to be fair he was drawn 11 and missed the break, so he had two choices, to try and come round the whole field, or to take the shortest route and hope for a gap.
He obviously chose the later and the gap didn’t appear. I’m not sure what else the jockey could have done, once he was on the rail with 11 horses in front of him.
January 18, 2007 at 08:14 #36112You are very forgiving, Alan!

January 18, 2007 at 09:25 #36113Alan ~ he was steadied at the start as opposed to missing the break, not that that is inherently wrong, but the ride Tom Queally gave him through the race won’t be nominated for ride of the season by anyone. He was going to struggle for a run by sticking to the rail, but he seemed to ensure that he struggled more than was necessary.
January 19, 2007 at 20:21 #36114Just read this on the HRA website
"T P Queally, the rider of MILLFIELDS DREAMS, reported that the gelding was denied a clear run." :o
One for the notebook we finks.. <br>
