Results from week 5
A tricky week for punters. Would you believe that not one single player selected Hennessey winner Trabolgan? Good winners though for Kingmonkey with Trifti at 10/1, while Fanciedhorselayer had an 8/1 winner and Celtic OK a 7/1 winner. That was enough to gaurantee those three players maximum points this week.
In the Premiership Roland continued his Chelsea-like march towards the title with his fifth successive win, this time accounting for Bob Rolf. A loss for Letsgetracing (to JohnnyB) means that Roland is now a mammoth 7 points clear and it’ll take a remarkable effort from one of the chasing pack if he is going to be caught. The rest of the division is very tight with only 4 points covering the rest of the players and, with a nice prize for the runner up and relegation for the bottom two, there is still plenty to play for (not least pride). It’ll be crunch time next week when Letsgetracing meets Roland. If LGR wins he’ll narrow the gap to a surmountable four points but if Roland wins again it will surely be all over in the top division.
The Championship is the closest of the three leagues. The big match this weekend was the top of the table  clash between Fanciedhorselayer and The Wizard and it was Fanciedhorselayer who prevailed courtesy of the 8/1 winner of the Rehearsal Chase, Direct Access. Former table-topper The Wizard moved down into fourth place as Anne7 resumed winning ways at the expense of the unlucky Adrian, whose 11/2 winner was not enough to foil Anne who managed to find a treble and move into second spot in the division. Xanderkir is getting into top gear with his third win from the last four matches. At the bottom of the table Michael Walsh managed his first win of the campaign and he’ll be hoping to go on to better things in the remaining weeks.
League One features the only player in any division, Kingmonkey, who has made a profit in each one of the 5 weeks. He left it late today as it wasn’t until the 9.00 at Wolverhampton that he got off the mark but it was a 10/1 winner, the biggest priced winner of the day, and that was more than enough to sink the winnerless Slipperytoad. Despite Kingmonkey’s excellent form he still has to share top spot with CelticOK who had a very good treble which included 7/1 Bold Bishop. Jairducochetfan, who drew today, and Citygirl, who lost for the second week on the trot, are now losing a bit of ground on the two leaders and need a win next week to keep in the hunt. However, if Jairducochetfan can defeat Kingmonkey in one of the key ties next weekend then he will go ahead of that rival and with Celticok and Kingmonkey still to meet up (in week 8) the title race in this league is still far from over.
