Enjoyed both The Tree and Forum Memes, but ironic those two are fighting it out to be “Thread Of The Year” on a horse racing forum.

Perhaps in future there could be separate awards for both a racing thread (i.e. non-Lounge), and a Lounge thread. The quality of posting in both areas is high enough to merit it.

If it is felt that there would then be too many awards, I’d happily drop something like the Owner category. I appreciate owners are the lifeblood of the sport, but struggle to judge or particularly care whether one very privileged rich person is a better owner than another!

Re a Lounge thread, possibly winning, quite apart from it being IMO the best thread here in years, possibly EVER, I’d say over half of the memes are racing-related.

It never fails to amuse me – there are some very witty contributors on this forum.

It is good to see the tree on the list.
It is more of a slow burner when you think how long it takes one to grow.
I’ve gone for meydan Thursdays myself as it is the most consistent of threads and has no pretensions. If you want the odd winner bigG and Triptych regularly throw up gems. More pertinent though if you want to compare it to a sitcom try cheers!!
Everyone knows your name and they look out for you there.
All of the other threads are worthy nominees too and shows a decent depth of variety.

I voted good ol’ tree. Tree is a superbly written highly personal and unusual thread.

Memes frightens the flies
It’s compulsive viewing
It’s taking over family life
TV or the crouching menace
in the corner has been on the go for 90 odd years and in my opinion has had a negative
effect on society and made real and ordinary people less valued and entertaining.
A visitor or family visitor
could bring interesting news from a near or distant part of Britain. Tales from a trip or holiday abroad would inform and entertain enormously and reported in a personal way with truth and humor.
Good luck to Gnats he’s clever and will win this.
I think Goodbye for now by Tinman is a serious mission.
