Double sank on the first leg as You Must Know Me eventually overhauled Sammy Black to land the short odds. I thought Danny Mullins was very aggressive on Sammy Black and if he’d ridden to do the very one paced You Must Know Me for a turn of foot the result would probably have been different. Glad it was just a tenner!

Think I’ll leave the thread at that now. Had a glance at Punchestown’s card this Saturday and nothing jumps off the page as has been the case in previous seasons in the beginner’s chase and bumper. Very happy to be finishing another jumps thread in profit after a tough season on the flat last year. That’s 4/4 jump threads in profit:

I have no doubt I’m better off sticking to the jumps game and am happy to do that as a break from punting will probably do me no harm anyway. I’ve had a couple of ante posts for the Epsom Classics and I might do a thread for Royal Ascot as I’ve done alright there in comparison to the flat season as a whole in recent years.

The top three highlights of the season for me are as follows, in no particular order:

The moment Ruby unleashed Vautour in the Supreme in a superb performance which got my Cheltenham off to the best possible start.

Faugheen… Great satisfaction in highlighting a horse before his bumper who goes on to have the season like the one he had, including giving me the biggest win of my life when romping away with the Neptune with a couple of hurdles wrapped around his legs.

Hurricane Fly’s win at Leopardstown at Christmas. He looked like he was there for the taking but he rallied like a champion to fend off Our Conor. A special horse.

This thread is twice as long as my previous jumps threads and thank you to those who contributed over the season :D

Well done THM, cracking effort. To finish 4 seasons in a row in a healthy profit is some going, you certainly know the Irish jumps game inside out.

Out of interest, do you have any AP bets that you will be rolling over into next years thread (if you decide to do another that is)? AND, who are you most looking forward to following next season….

Enjoy the summer break and look forward to reading you updates when things kick off again in the Autumn.

    Cheers, OLAS

Agreed. Well done Tommy mate, you consistently mix good results with a good well informed read. Takes some doing, you deserve all the plaudits :)

Thanks OLAS, the only ante post bet I’ve had for next season is

    Holywell

for the Gold Cup at 50/1. I was temped to do Tiger Roll for the Champion Hurdle but there’s so much strength at the head of the market that I couldn’t commit. Who knows which horses will be in or out next season with fences mentioned for a number of them. I have my eye on one for the RSA and will put it on this thread soon.

I might start a new thread before Galway because I’m really hoping they aim

    Cause Of Causes

    at the Plate.

If I had to nominate one horse I’m looking forward to seeing next year, it would have to be

    Faugheen

. Whatever route they decide to go down, I hope he’s able to maintain an upward curve. If he jumps better next season (that goes for hurdles or fences) then he could do anything. Two miles, three miles, heavy ground, good ground, this horse has shown himself capable of doing it all in the novice ranks. If he stays hurdling, a clash with the likes of Jezki, The New One and My Tent Or Yours would be mouthwatering.

It looks like Mullins will have just as strong a team next year. Hurricane Fly my be retired but he still has Faugheen, Vautour, Briar Hill, Annie Power, Un De Sceaux, Champagne Fever, Djakadam, Don Poli, Rathvinden, Boston Bob and a good crop of bumper horses, with the likes of Sir Des Champs, Un Atout and Pont Alexandre also due to return from injury.

Thanks Boz :) Already looking forward to Galway, planning on a three day excursion to the west, hopefully partly funded by Cause Of Causes

Best of luck with My Titania next weekend, Sea The Stars’ fillies are looking good.

One fancy today, you won’t get rich backing him but

    Killer Crow

should be good enough to get off the mark in the bumper at Cork. There are some well bred horses in opposition but I thought Killer Crow was one to back next time after he placed third on debut at Leopardstown. Being a Presenting he might prefer better ground but I think he should be able get the job done today. In the recent

    Final Furlong

podcast Patrick Mullins put him up as a bumper horse to follow which was good to hear.

    Cork 6.00
    Killer Crow
    €20 win @ 11/10 (PP)

I think this is almost the certainly the race of the day. Both Gusty Rocky and Investmentsuccess are bred in the purple. Appears to have been money for both. Not sure what has happened with Gusty Rocky as Mullins originally bought him.

Race has turned out pretty well with the three horses mentioned winning 4 of their subsequent 5 starts.

At this stage even though he has won two Gusty Rocky is almost certainly the least promising for the future. At the moment he is very much a bridle horse with a very short run. Having said that he is better than his last run indicated as Walsh rushed him up wide on a tight track and he ended up in front too soon.

I am pretty sure that both Investmentsuccess and Killer Crow are potential Graded horses. The former is the quicker of two and should be effective at distances up to two and a half miles. The only downside would appear to his age as he is already six. If he takes to hurdling I can’t see a more likely winner of the Albert Bartlett than Killer Crow. He travels well and has a very honest head carriage. Yesterday’s win was about the closest you will get to printing your own money.

The other big staying novice prospect is obviously Tell Us More. I was mystified how he didn’t win his point by very far until I watched the race the other day. Well worth a look if you haven’t seen it.

Tommy I was going to post on here the other week but never got around to doing it. Another great profit mate, well done. That Faugheen sure done you proud, I’m glad I jumped on board, would hate to guess his targets for next season though.
