Hi Richard 88 how are you?
Another festival of free money?
I hope so. I’ve had rather a few distractions and although it is still winter, I’ve never been so busy outdoors.
I’m running two allotments and supplying a food bank and am ferry two tons of topsoil from one allotment to another.
I’m rebuilding sheds and resurrecting I unremembered wood framed greenhouses. Making new no dig beds, cutting flowers ( camilia’s and coordinating art exhibitions and my own new project. Applying for grants for gardening initiatives and organising a St Dave’s day evening on 1st march in my local pub where there are at least six Daves at the bar at any one stage. We can have a toast to “Absent Daves”, too. Oh then there’s the small matter of organising a massive raffle for Cheltenham festival gold cup) tickets to raise a grand or more for the two charities I work alongside. ( thanks to Big G) So with all that in mind, I missed the first round of the six nations but yes, we will kick ass when the time comes and the weekend coming looks as good a place as any to start the oblong ball rolling.February 7, 2024 at 21:18 #1680283Villa to have one plus shot on target before half time @ 11/10
Kerching!!!
Oh dear my mate Ian took me to Highbury one year to see his team “beat” Chelsea in the league cup.
The Blues went away five nil winners that night and a similar score would be no suprise as this team are tearing villa apart.
Chelsea to score five + goals
At 5/1 with 30 + minutes to go that looks highly obtainable…..February 8, 2024 at 20:36 #1680380All good thanks Sam. I’ve been reading about your green fingered exploits and more in The Tree thread, great stuff.
I’m useless at gardening, took me 18 months to sort the garden out here although it does look alright now. The previous owners had that bloody awful plastic grass laid. I would criminalise the stuff if I was in charge. Two tons of soil must take some shifting! It was bad enough in my tiny garden shifting a bit of soil about. You’ll have arms like Popeye after all that.
Chelsea were very impressive last night, probably should have had more.
As for the rugby, Saturday’s games should be good and then a case of how many Ireland can be bothered to score on Sunday.
February 9, 2024 at 06:31 #1680419The beer is all the better for all that back work. As an ex Rugby and squash player. I know how to protect my spine and aches are all I get from all this exertion and Mother Nature blessed me with a huge appetite which can consume massive amounts of snout at dinner time. So I get it all back in protein and never put on an ounce.
The vegetables and herbs enhance everything and last night and this morning planting asparagus will be immensely satisfying after all that grunting this week!
We must kick some arse this weekend in the rugby and the Irish must be backed for the grand slam if anything close to evens or 10/11 is available.
France away is the benchmark and the inexperienced backs could well have gotten Ireland to the World Cup final if given their head if ever a guy stayed at the party a game too long it was Sexton.February 11, 2024 at 12:39 #1680835Coventry vs millwall
36 mins gone 0-1 to the wall.
Millwall to have 1+ shots on target between 40:00-HT
At 5/2.February 27, 2024 at 21:03 #1682835It has been a while.
Blackburn Rovers to beat Newcastle united

England batting and root and Bairstow are attempting to steady the ship
Bairstow to score 100
7/1
He’s hit 30 runs and is knocking them about and the question is is he going for a quick fifty or minded to stay around here?
33 in 23 balls in his 100th test.March 12, 2024 at 22:08 #1685109Bairstow and the team were already “ on the beach”.
Arsenal vs Porto
Arsenal won the match 1/0
Extra time
Porto to win tie 13/8
Porto to win in extra time10/1
Arsenal have got the goal to take the match further.
The only target 🎯 had to be the premiership and the longer this goes o the pendulum may swing towards the visitors.April 6, 2024 at 08:51 #1689141Quiet times on the sports front for yours truly with a world of distractions not least of those Portelet Bay in the Idyllic Channel isles.
But I’ll be heading down to the seafront bar of the imperial hotel at noon for the Old Farm Derby today. Norwich’s “crow’s nest” hosts the East Anglian Derby where the kings of the north and the south folk do battle for the pride of Anglia.
There is something quintessential about this match and it’s rivalry given that these capitals of Norfolk and Suffolk are over forty miles apart and the keen intensity of the derby belies the distance which separates this match from all other derbies.
Bragging rights have held sway well in favour of the mustard city in recent years. As years and years of domination by the Tractor boys stretching right through the seventies and eighties ended as the new century turned this fixture into an exclusive green and yellow fest.
So now Ipswich are on the verge of the promised land and come to Norfolk facing the prospect of knowing that a rare win here could well be the “tipping point” the match that in the long run clinches a return to the premiership. A draw would be most welcome to keep the momentum going. But it would be no suprise to see Ipswich hit two quick fire goals here to spark off a very big party ( premature though it would be) throughout Suffolk.
Plenty of folk in blue have long harboured dreams of winning the Tractor derby at Carrow Road at Easter to win promotion and with just five matches thereafter that’s not an impossible scenario. I’ve got my ante post ticket for Town to prosper at double figure odds in the race for promotion and luckily you can’t rip up your ante post tickets online other wise I’d be searching virtual dustbins from just a few weeks back after a dip in form.
It’s way too early to count any chickens just yet and these matches are too tense to call but Ipswich are on the crest of a wave and have a real chance here…
Now the fruitiness of a local derby is such that frantic football means last ditch tackling and some risqué moments on the discipline front which ensures bookings and where there are bookings lurks the prospect of red cards and I’m anticipating one early bath today at 11/4 the books are taking few chances in what is a do or die match for Norwich’s play off hopes. They have much the upper hand in these affairs and only the form of Ipswich afford them any marginal air of favouritism.
Local heroes are always talked about whatever the game and the recent passing of one such character John “tiger” Louis the speedway star will be on the minds of a few town fans today. He not only starred for the Ipswich witches but also went on to run the club single handedly for many years as a promoter and manager he was emulated in his achievements as an Ipswich stalwart by his son Chris who remarkably has gone to excell as a rider and again in managing the side just like the old man. John Louis rest in peace. (aged 82)
Ipswich Town to win on the 2 up rule @ 11/8
Ipswich Town to win outright 6/4.
Ipswich Town to win championship @ 7/2
A sending off @ 11/4
Already advised. Ipswich Town to win championship each way @ 12/1April 6, 2024 at 15:36 #1689223A Suffolk punch shire horse walks into a Norfolk tavern and the landlady asks “ why the long face?”.
Ipswich didn’t show up for this match and even with 71 % possession in the second half still looked second best.
There is a huge complex surrounding this match and Norwich had this match in the bag from a very early stage. They played the ball on the deck and Townn did not.
Ipswich rode their luck as the match went on and Norwich were brutally effective on the break in the second half without scoring.
Sargent was one of several dominant players in green and yellow and Norwich ran out clear winners.April 6, 2024 at 23:04 #1689261The Norfolk trotter managed to beat the Suffolk punch by a short head but it was really turgid stuff. Definitely Tractor Boys were suffering today from some complex that would be lost on the rest of us outside East Anglia
November 24, 2024 at 15:48 #1713935It’s good to be back on the forum and of course the Tractor Bots are back in the big time in the premiership.
Ipswich Town vs Manchester United.
Through a strict form line of the last two games Ipswich’s first win away to spurs got a massive boost when Spuds beat the champions yesterday by a rugby score.
So shouldn’t Ipswich trounce citeh’s big rivals?
One very safe looking bet should be this
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE.
Both sides play rush goalies at all times and defence is no priority here.November 24, 2024 at 17:11 #1713953I’m still working but managed to get on with Corals @ 13/10 I was expecting well below evens so as things stand I’m happy with that. Ironically for the comfort of using their terminals rather than interacting over the counter with a human the odds were slashed negatively to long odds on. Bizarre! I don’t know the current score but am heading to the old town’s White horse for the last five minutes or so of the first half. Oh and there may well be a pint of Guinness involved there…..
November 25, 2024 at 03:39 #1714013A nice result with Ipswich winning 1 – 1.
Good attacking defence thrown to the wind by both sides with sone last ditch tackles keeping the stalemate.
Better still, Ipswich kept a clean sheet for the best part of 90 minutes, trouble was they’d conceded a goal inside 2 minutes…
The variance between the terminal and the counter earlier was explained when I returned to cash in my chips. A counter error actually meant the bet offered should have read BTTS & either team to win. The quoted bet of Btts though was honoured, a rare thing with bookmakers and I collected my payout @ 13/10.November 25, 2024 at 20:00 #1714061Newcastle United vs West Ham United
8pm saint James park
Issak to score at anytime. win bet
seems too obvious.November 25, 2024 at 20:05 #1714062Issak scored in four but it’s offside….
November 30, 2024 at 13:37 #1714431IRELAND VS AUSTRALIA
Dublin 1510International Rugby Union takes centre stage for Me today and it’s the Irish ☘️ at home in the autumn internationals at the Arriva I’m sure it’s what it’s still called now several years on and the sponsors know when they are on to a good thing. I’ve been lucky enough to play both codes of Rugby albeit at a lowly level, but I was good enough to play Civil Service level and luckily enough to be in the same team as Ireland 🇮🇪 stand-off Derek Macaleese. He had a cannon of a boot and could cross field kick to great effect giving me acres of space to score in… trouble is the ancient referees never believed I was that quick to make up the ground and I was called up as offside plenty of times!! But ball to hand was a different affair and he knew how to pass.
Anyway the Irish are in the top three teams in the world and would be comfortable playing a series in the “wrong” hemisphere. They can put the homesick Wallabies to the sword this afternoon. With the lions touring Australia next year under coach Andy Farrell (the rugby league ledgend who has cut his teeth again in union coaching)This match is important for Ireland’s players who want to make the trip. Both coaches today have an Irish connection with Joe Schmidt actually sharing the job until four years ago.
It’s going to be muddy and the forwards should hold sway here and with a power struggle expect sin bins and penalties.
I don’t expect the Irish to be penalised as much and expect the Aussie scrum to go down enough times for two penalty tries and resultant penalties should accumulate the points.
Ireland to win
Ireland to win by over 12 + points
That Issak wager went down and although he went close the Geordies were well beaten off the international break by an international score. 0-2.
The Ipswich bet was secured as a winner before the teams changed ends.
I duly attended the bookies to be told that the 13/10 on offer really was too good to be true!
The bet was offered to me and I don’t know wether bookies palpable error comes into this but the lady said she’d honour the bet despite quoting me the wrong price. The bet should have been odds on and the actual bet she had shown me as 13/10 was actually referring to Both Teams to score And either team to win.
My bet that I asked for of course was simply Both Teams To Score and as I was quoted the 13/10 the person running the shop kindly agreed to honour the price so well done her but these situations don’t always end well for either party.
Arsenal Vs West Ham United.
5:30 1730 hours
Tonight at the emirates the Iron travel to Arsenal hoping to continue their form.
But the 6/5 about Arsenal giving up 1 goal and turning over the handicap looks fair it has been recommended by the RP so I’ll take Evens if available otherwise not to bother.
Arsenal beat the hammers 6-0 in their last home fixture over them in February and may well be at least two goals better if on song.
Recommendation
Aresenal to beat handicap @ evens.
-1 goal
Odds on = no bet. - AuthorPosts
