Okay, not Reform-related but their even weirder RWNJ colleagues:

The real question is, of course, why do people get paid to post on social media? 🤔

The real question is, of course, why do people get paid to post on social media?

There’s clearly a lot of money in spreading hatred and division. Politicians are therefore financially incentivised to come up with policies that play well on social media. If you think of Tory, Reform and Restore rhetoric with that in mind, it goes some way to explaining why they spout such reactionary ill thought out rubbish.

Plenty of outrage about clips of dangerous driving being spread on social media in the last few days, nothing about this. These platforms need reining in on many fronts.

Funny how Farage hasn’t piped up about the two poor police officers being killed in the car chase. No immigration angle there for him to manipulate.

Plenty of outrage about clips of dangerous driving being spread on social media in the last few days, nothing about this. These platforms need reining in on many fronts.

It’s not just the dangerous driving clips that have been of concern in recent weeks. Apologies if it’s already been covered on here, but was anyone else aware of the competitions being run on the likes of TikTok to see who could start the best fire during the drought?

This one feels literally close to home for us, as a week last Saturday a couple of kids, possibly not yet even teens, decided to get in on the act by taking a ciggie lighter to some tinder dry tall grass just the other side of a path behind our house.

We hit lucky on three counts. First, the wind that day was gentle and blowing away from our property. Second, some families on the nearby estate saw the flames early on and called 999. Third, the fire brigade got to the scene inside seven minutes.

But for all of which, who knows. There is certainly at least as much flammable material near to hand around here as, say, in those examples in south Wales and the Midlands of multiple residential properties being lost to fire.

The kids didn’t sleep easily until the first subsequent substantive rain half a week later. I’m not sure I did, either.

And all of this for what, the most fleeting and hollow of bragging rights on an online platform?

Yep. That’s all that matters these days.

Those of us of a certain age will remember Roy Castle and his Record Breakers theme: dedication is what you need.

Nowadays, it seems that validation (from complete and utter imbeciles) is what you need.

Five minutes Party Political Broadcast for Reform on Look North tonight. Leader of Wakefield Council being interviewed about their cost saving measures and what they have achieved in the first 3 months of their tenure. No opposition councillors were interviewed giving their opinion of their achievements.

Back in the studio the presenter asked the interviewer about potential council tax increases next year. The interviewer stated these were not known at this time.

Did you ask the question of council tax increases? No thought not.

If the media subjected Reform to the same degree of scrutiny as it does Labour, Farage would have disappeared years ago.

GB News has published a story about a potential £4bn headroom shortfall in the upcoming budget caused by ‘shocking immigration figures’. Those ‘shocking figures’ are that it’s falling and so are tax receipts as as a result.

Anyone seen Farage saying that we need to react with cold, hard rage against idiots who drive the wrong way up busy roads just to antagonise the police? Or calling out Middlesbrough for being the crime capital of the country?

    Thought not.

Iceland has narrowly voted against restarting EU accession talks. Farage was of course straight out of the traps: Congratulations to Iceland on voting to keep their independence.

That’ll be the same Iceland that’s in the Schengen area, a member of the EFTA and customs union enjoying full freedom of movement with the EU. Good to know that an independent sovereign nation can be part of all of that, thanks for clarifying Nige 👍
