So, where is your vote going?

I’m voting for my childhood hero Bob Champion. As a 3/4 year old i wrote to Champion and sent him a picture of myself dressed in the famous Embricos colours and not only did he write back; he sent me a signed picture of him and Aldaniti with a small message and he signed the photo of me. He very easily gets my vote for this.

Out of the 10 announced my 5 to go i would be…

Ginger Mccain/Red Rum
Sir Peter O’Sullivan
Fred Rimell
Bob Champion/Aldaniti

And i’m torn between Manifesto and John Buckingham/Foinavon

A lot of them before my time but definitely Rummy No 1 and I would have Sir Peter as well.

There can be only one winner surely? Red Rum and Ginger for me. Still watch the videos of all 5 runs today and it never fails to make me cry!! Saw Rummy’s famous dead heat on the flat at Aintree as a child and adored him ever since. Got all the memorabilia, including one of his shoes from the 1977 win. It would be a travesty if he wasn’t in!

Although all ten have strong claims and I don’t see why they cannot have all ten inducted.

If it only had to be one from the list going in then undoubtedly it would have to be Ginger and Red Rum.
