Why are Ascot not happy with RUK??? Maybe they regret being persuaded to being lumped together with everyone else in the terrestrial tv deal that resulted in the BBC losing the Royal Meeting.

February 9, 2018 at 19:38 #1341437Does anyone know if the Irish racing SIS deal is exclusive in that they can only sell it to one broadcaster? I’m thinking that Meydan gets covered by both RUK and ATR (though God know why) so is there any reason SIS couldn’t also sell ATR the rights to continue to show Irish racing?

Yes SIS own the rights to all the irish courses and HRI gave SIS carte blanche to sell them to whoever they wanted to until 2023.
RUK have paid for exclusive rights like the UK tracks are exclusive to either RUK or ATR apart from the itv deal.
February 9, 2018 at 21:46 #1341466I wonder with the launch of Sky Sports Racing if they will stop showing adverts every 5 minutes like ATR does? I’m sure ATR shows more advertisements than actual racing.

Under Ofcom rules tv channels can show a maximum of 12 minutes of adverts per hour (internal promos excluded).
February 10, 2018 at 02:05 #1341516This is a disaster for irish racing; I don’t think many will pay the extra premium for RUK, and out of sight, out of mind. I like ATR, ok, it looked cheap, but more than made up for it by being cheerful and enthusiastic
