‘Total Moron’ – that’s not much of an insult?
I beg to differ.
Oh well, we all have differing perceptions of reality, depending on where you live, what you do for a living and your social back-ground.
Moron isn’t a swear word.
It was also pointed out why this conclusion had been arrived at.All part of the cut and thrust of a passionate debate.
Surely when anyone posts anything on a forum they don’t do it just to enable everyone else to agree with them do they?

Good point well made

Stick to the cricket thread

I do enjoy the cricket ghetto, but it gets a bit quiet in the hood this time of year so I just thought I’d wander over to the horsey section to see what you girls are up to. Oddly enough, its the same as when I was last here in the spring – handbags and Denman.
Keep up the good work chaps!

Firefox – if you’re to survive the forum you’ll need to develop a thicker skin and a sense of humour
Andrew – cricket is a girl’s game – you should have watched the Camanachd Cup final the other day (Live on BBC Scotland). Fort William 2 – Kingussie 1. Sticks swinging and lashing about, a ball not unlike a cricket ball only harder being smashed towards opponents at every opportunity and not a pair of pads or face mask in sight. A few beer bellies and a few lads who looked to be the wrong side of 40 though, so there’s hope for a few of us.
Rest of you – I dunno, carry on as usual and all that

You’re much too clever for most of us Grassy!

I reckon they just repeat the final from about 10 years ago every time- it’s always Fort William versus bloody Kingussie!

Only three times since 1992, apparently ….., although Fort William have been in the last six.
I used to play shinty at primary school. We must have been just about the only shinty playing school in Berkshire!

September 16, 2008 at 22:38 #181327Going back to Mr Wilsons original post concerning a losing bet on William Blake – this was trained by Mark Johnston – i wondered if it was just me but i find this trainer increasingly difficult to predict – of course he gets lots of winners but many seem to be so in and out that cannot follow with confidence – im not suggesting there is anything dodgy or sinister but i tend to avoid his runners both backing and laying !

Well done Absolution ~ I’d rather have the likes of Johnston kicked out of racing than Barney Curley; the "Always Trying" ethos is slightly less honest than Hitler’s "Kind to Jews" strapline.
September 18, 2008 at 12:48 #181473I ignored the Racing Post Spotlight that Henry Candy was top notch at bringing back a nag after a very long lay off and layed Wiggy Smith in the place market thinking 4’s was a great lay.
Actually it was a great lay just didn’t come off for me. With a smoother passage and a better ride the nag could have even won that decent race. Great training performance but if the bounce theory holds Wiggy will run a stinker next time out.

Did anyone see Go Nani Go the other day, during the loading proceedure it drifted to 15.8 from 7.6.
September 22, 2008 at 12:11 #181936After my smooth transition from laying out and out no hopers to what I call mid-priced doubt fillers I have arrived at Ghost Dancer as todays place market lay in the 4.50 at Leicester.
At 7’s in the place market I reckon that is a good bet win, lose or draw even if it’s trained by a top classer.
My cautious, look before I leap betting mindset suits laying rather than backing though I know there is better value doing the other.
September 23, 2008 at 09:30 #182037Yesterday’s lay of the day Ghost Dancer duly won but after going to school on that losing lay I have decided I didn’t really do anything wrong. Horses that were tailed off last time can rebound markedly.
It’ll happen again in the future but I still feel I’m on the right track.
September 23, 2008 at 11:50 #182054I checked the ‘Why They Ran Badly’ section of the BHA website to see if there was a report on Ghost Dancer. There’s nothing there though it would appear that there was a problem with the horse’s previous run. Noticeable that the form book records that the horse ‘took keen hold’ on the two unplaced runs in its last four. It seems that if the horse can be settled it has every chance but has a tendency to waste energy otherwise.
