Have you come to the conclusion then Gord, that UDS wins the Champion Chase and Vautour stays the Gold Cup distance?
    Welcome aboard…… ;-)

Gord, PP go 20/1 Vautour RUNNING in the QM, if you believe there’s still a chance. He’s 4/7 Ryanair and 5/4 Gold Cup, despite RP Irish correspondent assuring all on the RP Panel (podcast), that he is Gold Cup bound as far as the yard’s concerned with Willie believing there is no stamina issue and that he just wants a more reserved ride than in the KG.

Ricci also quoted as saying Vautour expected to be 10 to 15 kgs lighter than in the KG (just how big a cert would he have been if fit there?)

Incidentally, they have Cooper at 4/7 (from 8/11) to ride Don Poli.

Best value I can see of their Mullins specials is 14s to win all 4 Championship Races: Word Hurdle the obvious weak spot, but with the slight chance of Nichols Canyon joining Annie Power or VV Mag, far from a forlorn hope.

I would take that quote with a huge dollop of salt. You are supposedly the best trainer on the planet and you send a horse out relatively unfit for arguably the second most important conditions chase of the season?

Stilvi, given his schedule, it might well have been that he could not have been got any fitter for that race. Mullins stressed last year that, pre-Cheltenham, he had to put a monstrous amount of work into Vautour to get him ready for the JLT, and at one point thought he might not make it. That was with three runs in his ‘fitness bank’ and it was 3 months after December. He went to Kempton off the back of one run.

Mullins obviously took the view that he could not get him any fitter without risking something going wrong, and that he was fit and strong enough to do himself no harm.

Assuming all that has been said is true, and Vautour turns up in the same condition he did for the JLT, if he stays (and I have no doubt he will, but accept that others don’t share my confidence), then barring accidents he wins.

I’m gonna go against the grain and will be opposing Mullins in every which way possible. As I mentioned in another thread a good while back, I compared Mullins to Japanese Knotweed … so successful that he’s becoming a nuisance and Henderson is going to be the weedkiller! And so, starting with…

    L’Ami Serge to beat Douvan

Peace And Co to shock Faugheen

Sprinter Sacre to bump off Un De Sceaux

Great post Joe,most informative. For me to finally make my Million I need Vautour to win the Ryanair,Un des Scaeux to win the QMCC and either Don poli or Djakadam to win the Gold Cup but 20/1 just to run is worth a Tenner of anyones money as one never knows how Willies mind works.
I agree about the 14/1 about the 4 Championship races but ideally we would want Annie Power to run in that and Vroum Vroum Mag in the mares. Limini in the Novice mares,Petit Mouchoir in the Martin Pipe,he always runs a class horse in that and of course Douvan in the Arkle, Min/Yorkhill in the Supreme,Black Hercules/Roi des Francs in the 4m, Bellshill in the Neptune, Rennetti in the Coral cup,Up for review in the Albert Bartlett, Faugheen in the Champion hurdle, Shaneshill/Kilultagh Vic in the JLT, Village Mystic/Augusta Kate in the bumper and a host of supporting cast like Sir des champs,Bachasson,Long dog,A toi Phil,Lets dance,Valseur lido etc and we’ll easily break the 10 winners required.I see Betfair Sportsbook go 6/1 about 11 or more Winners…In we go again!

I have to agree with you. I can see Sprinter beating Un De Seaux but surely Douvan and Faugheen are absolutely nailed on, especially Douvan.

Ghost you are totally bonkers  but good luck ;-)

    Brave/mental/daring!

Are you purposefully picking British trained horses to take them on?

If you are, then I would have Ar Mad over L’Ami Serge and TNO over P&Co, every day of the week. Bigger prices, better form, better value.

Charlie87 … I’m always an ardent supporter of the British-trained horses come Chelters.

A few years ago, I recall a horse named Dunguib who, considered by many, was the second coming and was a ‘dead cert’ to win the Supreme Novices Hurdle. One or two folks thought I was nuts when I said that the horse wouldn’t win the race (Menorah won it. I backed Get Me Out Of Here but at least he finished in front of Dunguib) :yahoo:

Oh, and since Arabian Queen rocked Golden Horn in the Juddmonte, then surely Peace And Co can nail Faugheen and L’Ami Serge turn over Douvan.

Yep, I’m as bonkers as they come!

I always pay great attention to your posts TAPK as you’re an excellent judge but when i seen you had tipped ten or more winners i slightly raised my eyebrows but when i read your post and looked at it in greater depth i was thinking he mightn’t be gone mad actually, it’s unlikely but not an impossibility but now i see you fancy him for 15 winners

That is pretty much impossible in my book. The 2 you mention in the bumper won’t be going is the latest and a few of the ones they’ve liked this season have had problems, disappointed or are with Gigginstown and almost certainly won’t go so you can scratch that winner off the list.
The only possibility for win purposes they have in the World hurdle is Annie and she’s not going to run in it,can’t have Vroum Vroum in it nice and all as she is.
I think Petit Mouchoir would be top weight for the MP on his Irish rating and another single pound from Phil Smith and he won’t be eligible and he’ll be giving all Mullins another pound or 2 on top of the complimentary extra few lb for all the Irish after Wicklow Brave last year so he won’t get in but i’m sure he’ll still have a competitive one in it but i’d be inclined to look at other Irish for it maybe Flemings Chain Gang(see what the handicapper gives him 1st,might be too lenient to get in) and Elliotts Jetstream Jack has a nice mark too as well as Tycoon Prince who’s had a wind op ;-) Follow him wherever he goes.

Can’t understand the confidence behind Vautour going the Ryanair route, i’d say the only way that could happen is if Djakadam wins by a distance at the weekend and Ruby is mightily impressed and tells them he’ll win in March,if not Vautour will go Gold Cup.

The army Mullins sending to Cheltenham is frightening really but if he gets 15 winners i’ll join the Tibetan monks and i can actually see some crying on the 1st day whether it be by his 2nd string winning or the opposition. He’ll win the Champion with one of his 3 and he’ll win the Mares with Annie but the Supreme looks a pretty open race and he although Min’s looked good i can see Henderson taking it with one of his or Yorkhill could surprise his stablemate either. Douvan looks a Superstar but it’ll be interesting to see what Ruby does when Ar mad goes off like a bat out of hell and jumps like a kangaroo,if he handles going left handed i really think he’s a big player if he gets loose. In the 4 miler they’ll have a strong hand but i think the winner of it could be out today in Thomas Brown,i’m hoping he is a staying on second today or wins but not too snugly because if he wins well i’d fear they’ll go RSA but he’s an out and out stayer and 4 miler be perfect for him.

    Let the fun begin :good:

Great post Fran, always good to hear from you.My Certainty Bet is for 10 or more Winners at 3/1 and 5/2..Victor Chandler offer 6/4 and thats a joke but such is the strength of the Mullins yard I can see more winners, the more the merrier.

Not this year they wont.I’ve never seen a team of horses like those of Mullins, even his 2nd strings look better than most of the opposition. This is going to be an Historical meeting.

Mullins is a 150/1 to draw a blank Joe…Even I would piss myself if that happened.Noticed Vautour is the only horse taking money for the Gold Cup too, that is significant.Tomorrow will be interesting though.
