Who will win the arkle ?
March 5, 2007 at 17:04 #44209I’ll be very surprised if it isn’t Fair Along. Has best form, jumps superbly, likes the track, has speed, handles anything from good ground to heavy and stays every yard and further.
Banker of the meeting for me bar a jumping error I can’t see what can beat him.
March 5, 2007 at 17:18 #44213Fair along for me. Though if I see the word heavy in the going description, I’d start looking for better value.
March 5, 2007 at 17:24 #44214I’ve got Faasel at 50/1 so would love him to win but the ground is looking like being against him. Fair Along is a worthy favourite for me and all collateral form indicates he is the one to beat, especially the way last years triumph is working out.
I’m still interested in Buena Vista. Pipe couldn’t have been more bullish in a recent article in the post and he is still an unexposed horse who we may not have seen the best of.
Fair along to win
Buena Vista E/W
March 5, 2007 at 17:24 #44215MWDS (if he runs)would be my idea of the winner if its soft or worse…which seems likely
Love Fair along, but can see him and a few others floundering if they all go off a bit too fast. MWDS jumps so beautifully, its easy to imagine him in touch and then being able to turn on the power up the hill….
March 5, 2007 at 22:02 #44216I can’t see past Fair Along and whilst he has to overcome the rough and tumble of a race like this I think he’ll have a bit too much speed fot the rest. I have always rated Nicky Henderson highly and I hope Jack The Giant runs well, E/W value I think.
March 5, 2007 at 22:10 #44217It will be heavy on Tuesday so MDS has to run. If he turns up, he will trot up.
March 6, 2007 at 06:58 #44218Fair Along for me.
March 6, 2007 at 13:02 #44219I would choose fair along aswell, although all his races this season have been in races with only a few runners, he ran well in the Triumph last year in a big field and has already comprehensively beaten MDS this year. Hopefully he’s the first leg of a Phillip Hobbs double on Tuesday
March 6, 2007 at 13:32 #44220Agree with cheltboy. Am a huge fan of Fair Along, but if heavy plays a part in the going description, I think MWDS will have too much scope and stamina.
March 6, 2007 at 18:16 #44221I’m on Lennon at 30s and haven’t seen any reason to want to be on anything else. Fair Along would do for me too though as I had a cheeky saver at 10s! Hopeful of a run for my money with that pair!…
March 7, 2007 at 07:38 #44222Lennon has impressed me of all the Novice chasers, although hard to knock Fair Along’s form.

March 7, 2007 at 09:12 #44223Fair Along out to 7/2 on Betfair today (I’ve got involved at that); am I the only one who thinks My Way De Solzen is a bad bet in this? He has never won at the minimum trip and was a massive disappointment in the Supreme Novice two years ago. Lay lay lay!!
March 7, 2007 at 09:42 #44224Fair Along is drifting primarily because his trainer has expressed fears about the heavy ground. Interestingly Fair Alongs best rating was achieved when slamming My Way De Solzen and New Little Bric on soft ground at Sandown. I hold no fears whatsoever over his ability to handle really soft ground.
Also Cheltenham have saved a strip of ground on the inside for this meeting and it’ll possibly ride slightly better than the rest of the course.
You know what will happen Fair Along will make the running on the better ground and I really can’t see anything troubling him. 7/2 is a silly price.
March 7, 2007 at 11:06 #44225Flash its not a foregone conclusion that Fair Aling will make the running with the speedy Lennon in the field.
He will. Hobbs said in a Racing Post interview that they’re going to set off in front on the inside rail. If Lennon or anything else is daft enough to go too quick they’ll only cut their own throat.
My Way De Solzen tried to enable Fair Along didn’t have it all his own way at Sandown, look what happened to him.
March 7, 2007 at 17:21 #44227on the now likely going i just can’t see the flat bred front running fair along winning this now.
Embryo 3 mile chasers, like MWDS, haven’t had the speed in the past to win this race, though with heavy going turning it into more of a stamina test he has a better chance than would usually be the case.
I wish i’d got on don’t push it a little earlier as it seems to me that he is now the likeliest winner with his good combination of speed and stamina.
