I had intended posting this on the Daily Lays and Plays Section but then thought that maybe other forumites, equally deranged, apply a similar thought process to their betting selections.
Does anyone study the form sequence of placings of horses and does that influence whether you have a bet or not?
For example, in the 3.30 at Brighton today, Lady Florence form figures are shown as: 012101. Now to my mind I would be dead set against backing this horse because my numerical thinking suggests that second place seems the next number in the sequence. Therefore it seems a sound lay.
On the other hand, in the 5.20 at Kempton, we have Sunley Spinalonga with form figures: 321123. To me that indicates a potential first place as being likely to occur next and therefore I would consider that to be a worthwhile bet.
I’d be interested to know if anyone else considers similar patterns in their calculations.
Thanks

September 1, 2010 at 13:20 #315376As it happens, Albrookes, not quite a fortune but I remember my Father putting six pence each way on it for me.
Perhaps there’s something going on in my subconscious about symmetry.
Cheers

There’s definitely something going on in your subconscious, Ken, but quite what it is is anybody’s guess!
I’d have thought Sunley Spinalonga is due a third-place finish on that particular sequence though.

I think we have to call that a draw, AJ.

The perfect form line for you would be
142857. You’ll have to work that out, but
it is a special number.September 1, 2010 at 20:05 #315478Special number, oh yeah. I know your game, although you shouldn’t give your phone number out on the main forum. You should have PM’d Ken it although I don’t think Ken is that way inclined at the moment.

How dare you second guess his predilections.
However, I think I can’t compete with matthew01 for his affections.
September 1, 2010 at 21:39 #315497Do I detect a slight hint of jealousy there, Nathan? Have no fear though, after your exertions last night how could you possibly imagine that I would stray? See you again soon, big boy.
And as for Matthew, Llanrumneyboy, that was just a holiday romance always doomed to end in tears.
