Week 5 review

    Grey showing Desire to win
The week’s best performance, and second best Premiership performance of the season, was put up by Grey Desire who emerged as a genuine title contender after eclipsing Irsheyez with a fantastic treble which included a 12/1 winner. Irsheyez will be dismayed as his own performance was in itself remarkable, all his five selections won and his was one of the top four scores of the Premiership season, but he chose the wrong time and place as the Grey one was simply unstoppable.
The wheels may not have completely come off the Manugirl challenge and perhaps Rooney’s injury is playing on her mind but, whatever the cause, she needs a win in next week’s vital clash with Irsheyez to stay in contention. Her loss to Racing Daily puts RD right up there in the firing line and, with Corma67 winning again to creep nearer the lead, at least 5 players have a solid chance of title glory with 4 weeks to go.
It was Kevin who was best placed to take advantage of the Reds’ slip up and his cause was helped by the non-appearance of Letsgetracing. Unperturbed, Kevin showed his class with a nice double to go top of the division and he now has a 2 point cushion at the top.
Some great tipping in this league, as we’ve come to expect, and it’s worth noting that 6 of the 10 players are showing an overall level stakes profit which is great going.

    High Fives for Adrian
The outstanding performance in the Championship came from Adrian who matched Irsheyez in tipping 5 winners from 5 selections. Adrian’s nap hand propelled him into clear second place, just two points behind Anne7 who had a nice win over top-of-the-table rival CelticOK, selecting 4 winners in a day when 25 of the 27 competitors in action found a winner of some sort.
With Anne7 and Adrian still to meet (in the penultimate round of games) and CelticOK likely to pick up three points from Xanderkir (who hasn’t played all season) there is still plenty of hope for the Hoops fan but next week’s clash between Adrian and CelticOK looks vital for both parties.
At the bottom The Wizard is in danger of becoming completely detached and his luck seems to be well and truly out as he came up against an in-form Michael Walsh, who banged in four winners.

King makes a monkey out of Corm
Best performance of the day in League One came from Kingmonkey who had 6/1, 11/2 and 5/2 winners in a great treble. I thought I’d have chance of a morale boosting win after having a profitable day but couldn’t contend with KM’s top class tipping and the defeat sent me spiralling down into the basement position and facing the real prospect of non-league tipping next season!
At the top Caravan won a low scoring, tense encounter with LRM to stay two points clear of Ken1. Unfortunately, due to an admin error (my fault!) Ken1’s selections didn’t appear in the posts on the thread. Ken is away on a trip to the far east and had posted me his selections earlier in the week. I managed to forget to put them up on the thread. Apologies to all but especially to Grizzo.
2-y-o tipster stayed within touch of the lead after a win pulled him out of a recent sticky patch.

    Hi Corm.
Admin error or whatever if the selections are not posted on the thread,They are invalid. So the result of the match should be a win for me. or atleast a draw for the error on your part, Or even a void match, Or replay at the end of the season,,Grizzo,,

I agree with Grizzo…..split the points……they would both have had 5.00

If Xanderkir can receive a 5.00for not making an entry in the Championship league then so should Ken1

that’s why I enquired recently if there was a cut off time for entries…..which I have assumed was 2pm but you corrected me with the fact that no cut off time applies…..if I considered making an entry after time then I would not bother for that weeks competition

If your PC is down and no entry can be made…..tough luck on the competitor….it can happen to all of us

The diffrerence between Ken1 and Xanderkir is that Xanderkir hasn’t posted and therefore gets -5 points each week.

Ken1, on the other hand, sent me his selections by PM several days early as he was away at the end of the week and I hadn’t started the thread for selections. Ken asked me if this was Ok and aI agreed that it would be.

Therefore it was entirely my fault, Ken had abided by what I’d agreed with him and I don’t feel he should lose out as a result.

I’m really sorry Grizzo as I do try my best to ensure there are no controversial incidents such as these. At the end of the day his selections (which can be verified by the forum administrators if required) did do better than yours and he did abide by what I’d agreed with him. Therefore, in the spirit of the competition and good sportsmanship I feel he should be awarded the points.

Really sorry everyone for this frustrating glitch.

    Hi Corm,
As you have decided to give the points to Ken1 even though the selections were Not posted on the thread for the days racing. And the fact he got 2 winners,,Which where in hyperspace,,You run and make the rules for this competition,,It seems as we go along. So unfortunatly I or anyone else for that matter cant do anything about it.Ill just have to hope my tipping carries me through to next season and not be relegated because of the 3 pts lost,,I now feel this matter has also gone into hyperspace with Ken1,s selections.Good Luck for the rest of the season,,lets hope you dont disappear from your own comp.

                   Regards…Grizzo…

How is it 3 points lost grizzo when u never tipped a winner and the best result u cud of had was a point at best with the draw. Dont think u shud be knockin cormack because he doesnt have to run this competition for us but he takes up plenty of his time to run this and he does it very well imo. I aint ball licking i am just sayin i respect u corm for puttin the time in cheers

    Grizzo –

I’m really sorry for the problem Grizzo but I’ve tried to handle it in the way that I think is fairest to all concerned. The absence of Ken1’s tips from the thread did not affect your selections or performance and he did send them to me in plenty of time.

Regarding the comments about the rules – I try to frame and run the competition as fairly as I can and also try to ensure that this spirit of fairnness extends to any events which may require judgement during the course of the competition, as is the case here. My judgement was that as I had received Ken’s selections in plenty of time and that their absence from the thread was not his fault nor affected your performance in any way they should stand. I apologise for not posting them on the thread. That was entirely my fault and was an oversight which was unfortunate. SORRY!!

I did send you a PM explaining all this, which presumably you’ve read, along with a copy of the message Ken1 sent to me, as well as explaining it on here once already so I would like to think that, in the spirit of good faith which I hope exists, can we let this matter rest now?

btw – I also hope I don’t disappear from my own competition, thanks for your good luck message on that.

Apologies to those involved regarding this unfortunate Week 5 incident.

I would also like to state that I had no time for selections for Week 6.

    Grizz –

I posted selections on Ken1’s behalf as he was away and couldn’t get to a computer. If I know that people are going to be away (holidays, work, etc) then rather than them losing out as a result they can either let me have the selections up front (like Ken last week) or have selections posted on their behalf (as I’ve occasionally done with people before).

It’s a competition for a bit of fun Grizzo, not a matter of life or death, so don’t take it so much to heart old son.
