A horrible looking incident led to the death of Stormfield in a Maiden Chase at Southwell on Sunday.

It was a wretched race with fallers and sketchy jumping in evidence but poor Stormfield seemed to pitch on landing after jumping the 5th and unshipped Brian Harding.
He continued riderless for a while but it was obvious that all was not well. For a moment I thought that he had got a leg tangled in his tack but alas a rear leg was obviously broken.

A horrible grisly scene and I hope that the vet got to him before he suffered too much.

He was a recent import to the UK having won a couple of Irish points in the past.
