Agree it’s shaping up to be a top renewal. Supasundae is a false favourite imo and a few points too short in the betting. Yanworth is much better value at 7/1 (still available at time of writing).
I’m a big fan of Wholestone who loves Cheltenham and think he may well place but I’m not sure I can see him winning. Penhill of course is the joker in the pack, could he win this first time out, logic says no but he’s a horse of serious ability.
I can’t L’ami Serge or The New One winning for very different reasons. Sam Spinner could certainly win but the market has him about right at 5’s.
February 20, 2018 at 15:27 #1343202Not news I wanted to hear with Yanworth being real big on Sam Spinner!
Serious danger, can’t believe it’s taken them so long to choose this race…doesn’t look like the trainers decision either…
Glad I’m going to this…my first ever festival…as had been said…shaping up to be a cracking race!
February 20, 2018 at 20:59 #1343245Yanworth must have a fine chance in this. Just the one run over 3 miles, beating Supasundae in an Aintree grade 1, finding plenty.
Placed at two festivals and has a brace of grade 2 wins at prestbury park.
February 20, 2018 at 22:09 #1343254I have no idea who I’m backing here. Have gone from UnowhatImeanharry to Nichols Canyon to Lil Rockerfella to Lami Serge to Wholestone back to Lil Rockerfella and now I’m thinking Penhill. The only strong feeling I have here is that Supasundae wont win.
This might be a race to back in running
February 21, 2018 at 09:01 #1343288Penhill pleasing WPM and likely to show up here.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 21, 2018 at 18:28 #1343363Lil Rockerfeller who was 2nd in this last year is of interest at 25/1
February 22, 2018 at 03:02 #1343414Jack – Do you have a line into WPM? You seem to be in the know with the Irish Racing scene.
February 26, 2018 at 18:09 #1344107Penhill confirmed to be heading here today
February 26, 2018 at 18:58 #1344114Personally thought it sounded like a negative update on Penhill…this is what was said…
“The aim was to get him there – we planned on getting him to Cheltenham and it’s a tough ask to win that race. If he runs well and comes out sound that will be good enough for us and we can look to Punchestown.
It is hard to get out of novice class to open class. He is going to have to do that, but then his flat rating is high…”
February 26, 2018 at 19:17 #1344118Positive update he will make it, negative about his prospect of winning id agree.

I didn’t see anything in Sunday’s performance to make me tear up my ticket, Ben.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 27, 2018 at 09:26 #1344167CNC, i hear bits and pieces as im in supreme syndicate with Listen Dear…Problem is even when you do hear things from WPM yard, even the people passing it on can’t always second guess Mullins lol
I did hear Stormy Ireland had an injury and that seems to not be true, so all the snippets dont come correct..turns out she just wasnt pleasing mullins for LEOP.
Not necessarily a bad thing as the press day can be a bit of a hype-job, but not sure i’ve seen anything come out about Bacardys….
Probably not popular but i like Yanworth’s chances.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2018 at 10:57 #1344176I like Yanworth too. Thought he would have won it last year and I think he has to have a great chance in an average renewal. Running in the CH was one of the strangest decisions I can remember. JP fired 2 bullets at 2 races and lost them both when he would have been better off sending them both here.
February 27, 2018 at 11:50 #1344180Yeah Flex, to me he has the hurdle form, the only question mark is coming back from chasing.
Would prefer him to Supasundae myself who is fav.

…And temperament.
Although the Neptune run wasn’t bad, does Yanworth like the hustle and bustle (both prelims and race) of the Cheltenham Festival? Dissapointed in last year’s Champion in between winning both Kingwell (2m) and Liverpool Stayers. Never wins by far and even if getting to the front could give it away considering the noise will be greater.Personally, I’d have both the other two co favourites (genuine sorts) ahead of Yanworth.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 27, 2018 at 13:15 #1344192Funny how we look at things differently, I’d be in the Yanworth camp, think he has a touch of class the front two in the market don’t have.

I think he’s just a strange horse in general, not sure i’ve seen too much “shirking” finishes or anything? Doesnt find a pile, but finds enough? I mean he’s 8 from 10 over hurdles..
His Festival form wouldn’t worry me at all, champion hurdle run ok it was terrible, but you could argue it was just the wrong race in general for the horse. As you mentioned, he had a good run behind Yorkhill, in my opinion Yorkhill had plenty up his sleeve, but still you can see the other side of the argument where BG went the furthest way round….
His bumper run here as well was a decent fourth..So i wouldn’t be too worried about the hustle bustle.
Also, his overall course form is pretty strong too, wins-wise.I am not really sure i will go into the depth you have, in considering the noise, its very hard to put a finger on how any horse will react to this. You could argue Yorkhill is even more unreliable as a horse than Yanworth in terms of doing the unpredicatable and thus couldn’t thrown both his races away becasue of the noise?
I like Sam Spinner as a horse, but Supasundae has some greater question marks for me, and also, Yanworth has him covered on Aintree.
