The Hooded Claw must be being set up.
Dark Side Dream very disappointing. 4/1 into 5/2 but only 5th. Seems like I’m not the only one who expected him to win.
Bally Gilbert 1st time handicap today off 120. 11/1 so getting good value. He’s one to give up on if he doesn’t go in today.
I like one at Dundalk tonight.
March 3, 2017 at 17:14 #1289713Bally Gilbert, I wish I’d never met you!
March 5, 2017 at 12:03 #1289988Wow the well’s a bit dry at the moment, isn’t it? I should really trust myself more with my Premiership backs + just dive in.
My Friday night Dundalk horse was a nightmare :D finished last! so lucky that i slept through that, that would have been painful to wake up from a nap to!
Mount Mews pissed up yesterday, never had a bean on since I’m now avoiding the skinny ones. I have disgustingly big prices for Cheltenham in 2 races but he’s going to Aintree. I’ve not been lucky with the novice hurdles. Consul De Thaix out, I have absolutely no idea what’s happening with Glaring.
Anyway, a couple of future h’cap winners in the 3.40 in Ireland. Woodland Opera is a huge price + since I’m now backing my future handicap winners in non-handicaps, I cannot leave him unbacked at 13.5.
April 1, 2017 at 03:45 #1294805Flat season is back. Perfect excuse to get this thread going properly.
What I am backing today…
Football
Laying Tottenham -1 away to Burnley. I’ll have a tiny bit on Burnley to win around 5.8 as well.
Backing Leicester at home to Stoke
Backing Man Utd WBA 0-0 around 15.0
Backing Liverpool Everton BTTSAlready on Tranmere at evens away to Wrexham.
Racing
1.50
I’m looking at 3. Tufi, Blue Bayou and Buying Trouble. Not sure how to play them yet.
Tufi I’d say is a solid EW play.
2.25 Raising Sand EW. In my notebook telling me he’ll win the Lincoln. He’s not in the Lincoln, but he’s in this.
3.00 Stormy Atlantic EW (should be a bet to nothing)
3.05 Benissimo EW (I’m baffled why they’re running him over hurdles, his OR is 13lbs higher than his chase mark, but he’s in my notebook with my notes telling me he comes good this time of year. I am expecting nothing but he’s 33/1, so…)
3.35
Looking at 5. Donncha, Oh This Is Us, Dolphin Vista, Emell and Instant Attraction. Again, not sure how to play them yet.
Dolphin Vista is probably my least fav of the 5. His draw is rubbish.
Emell looks highly interesting. He won’t win but he’s run 17 times over the past 2 seasons and been placed in 10 starts, mostly in Class 2 7f/1m handicaps. A no-brainer EW play at 25/1.
Oh This Is Us is definitely my fav of the 5.
MAKE SURE YOU BET WITH SKYBET. THEY PAY 6 PLACES.
3.50
Global Alexander, EW. He’s around 7/2 so I’ll lose money if he’s 2nd or 3rd but I can’t see him finishing outside the frame.
Also got an eye on Manaahil and will likely do a very small EW bet
5.20
Looking at 4. Dubawi Prince, Hold Sway, Immortalised and Joshua Reynolds. Not sure how to play them yet. I think the fav looks dogshit at the current prices.
6.15
Looking at 4. Highland Cradle is an EW nap. Can’t see him finishing outside the frame. I think he’s my best bet of the day.
Also looking at Free Forum and got an eye looking at Zoffany Bay, and a tiny eye looking at Mudaraad, but his price is rubbish, Stoute’s debutants are usually rubbish and I highly doubt I’ll back him, unless I need insurance on other runners for whatever reason.
A few more to come tomorrow
Very happy with my 2000 Gns situation. £5 Cracksman 33/1, £30 33/1 Al Wukair, £40 National Defense at 26-29, £2 on Peace Envoy at 580, £2 on Brittanic at 140 and around £15 on Dreamfield at 200+. I think he’s a doubtful runner, but who knows. His dam finished 3rd in the Oaks and his sire sired Workforce, a Derby winner, so I’m highly surprised to read they’re targetting him at the 6f Commonwealth Cup. I hope they’ll see sense. He’s 2/2 at HQ as well.
The way I see it is that by backing both French horses at those prices, I’m basically getting around 15/1 if one of them turns up, which seems very likely.
Will most likely back Churchill on the day to recover my outlay, which is around £95 so far.
I’m all over Might Bite to win the Hennessy at 25/1 (win only), one of my biggest ever ante-post bets – far from certain to run in the race but definitely worth the risk at the price. Nicky’s only other 2 RSA winners both won the Hennessy as 2nd season chasers. Trabolgan off 151, Bob’s Worth off 160. Might Bite rated 161. Should be around 8/1f at this stage IMO. If he runs he goes off 3/1f.
Also had a little bit on Zamdy Man EW to win the BetVictor Gold Cup at 33/1. Looks to me like he’s being laid out for it. A year too old on the trends but happy to take the chance at the price.
April 1, 2017 at 07:01 #12948182.25 Raising Sand
3.00 Stormy Atlantic
3.05 Benissimo
3.50 Global Alexander, Manaahil
All EW singles. Tiny tiny bet on Manaahil. Will wait to back win + place on BF for Benissimo cos he could get to mental prices.
Got annoying situations in the 1.50, 3.35, 5.20 and 6.15 races with multiple runners I like.
I think I’ll EW double the 3.35 and 5.20 with Skybet. 5 and 4 runners respectively. EW doubles = 40 bets.
1.50 Tufi, Blue Bayou EW singles. I’ll leave Buying Trouble.
6.15 Highland Cradle, Free Forum EW singles. Free Forum should hit mental prices on BF, esp. since he seems to be the stable’s 2nd string, so I’ll hold off on him.
I’ll have tiny EW doubles between Highland Cradle + Tufi/Blue Bayou/Raising Sand/Stormy Atlantic/Global Alexander. That’s 10 bets. As a result I won’t do the Highland Cradle single yet, as I might not need to.
Doubled Leicester up with Villarreal at home to Eibar, who I think will win.
April 1, 2017 at 14:43 #1294914Villarreal HT 1-0. 1-3 FT. Cheers!
Liverpool 3-1 – winner
Tupi 1st – winner
Blue Bayou – 4th by a neck. Got 20/1, went off 8/1 :'(
Raising Sand – gamble of the race (12s into 8s) lost his action :(
Place laid favourite Birchwood in the 1.50 – unplacedSchalke-Dortmund O3.5 goals 15/8
Leicester to beat Stoke 1.97
Laid Bayern Munich at home to Augsburg at 1.13
Laid Tottenham -1 at 2.5Win singles on;
3.05 Perseid
3.25 Canova
4.00 Monastic
5.10 Cecil Corbett
5.55 Stupid Cupid, Wellington BridgeTupi won and I’d expect 1 more of Stormy Atlantic/Global Alexander to win, so I don’t need to back Highland Cradle in a single. Saved a bet (y)
April 1, 2017 at 14:50 #1294916This has to be an April fool?…
April 1, 2017 at 15:23 #1294928Gord, you do things your way, I’ll do my things my way.
Had a tiny bet on Kool Kompany given the form Moore’s in, but would have preferred Stormy Atlantic getting up.
April 1, 2017 at 15:24 #1294929Oh yeah, and laid Crystal Palace at 4.1
April 1, 2017 at 15:54 #1294937Your Tranmere bet was nailed on, I’m a Wrexham fan and we’re atrocious this season!
Can’t get a handle at the start of the flat season but I’m a bit annoyed as I regularly do Ryan Moore multiple bets so would’ve done alright today! He’s different class when he’s riding like that…
I quite like the Frankel colt Immortalised later on, big odds for such a breeding…
April 1, 2017 at 16:27 #1294945Tranmere won :)
Bayern won :(
Schalke 1-1 :(All my foreign bets went down.
2nd, 3rd and 5th in the Lincoln.
Spurs lead 1-0. Fine if it stays like that. 2-0 is bad.
Man Utd still 0-0 with 25mins to go
Palace still lead :/
Global Alexander 4th a head :@ Manaahil 2nd
Bennisimo nowhere as I expected but I don’t doubt my notebook notes
I’ve already made profit today no matter what but I want that profit counter to start going up more!
April 1, 2017 at 16:33 #1294952Cheers, Joliff, but can’t take credit as was just following the advice of a good football judge I follow on Twitter. Same goes for Liverpool-Everton BTTS.
Out of my Man Utd 0-0 bet, risk free.
Ideal football situation;
Palace don’t win
Spurs don’t win 2-0
Man Utd 0-0April 1, 2017 at 16:45 #1294955Got out of my Palace lay for 50% loss.
Spurs winning 20 :'(
Just taken 80% profit from my Man Utd 0-0 betHad a teeny bet on WBA as well, just incase! Massive value atm
April 1, 2017 at 16:59 #1294958I lost on all 3 lays (Bayern 1.13, Palace 4.1, Spurs -1 2.5)
I lost on all 3 foreign bets (lay Bayern, back Villarreal, back O3.5 Schalke-BVB)
I won on 4/5 domestic bets (Tranmere, Liverpool-Everton BTTS, Leicester, Man Utd 0-0)
Loser was Burnley to win at 5.9, which was a min bet
Draw your own conclusions
Good profit made today already. Got EW doubles running on to the 5.20. Also got a couple of other win singles and of course my best bet of the day in the 6.15.
April 1, 2017 at 17:09 #12949605.20
Looking at 4. Dubawi Prince, Hold Sway, Immortalised and Joshua Reynolds. Not sure how to play them yet. I think the fav looks dogshit at the current prices.
Last night’s 7/4f currently 5.6 3rd in the betting.
I likely need 2 placed to make a profit from my EW doubles.
£2 on Peace Envoy at 580
Hello, Gord
April 1, 2017 at 17:27 #1294961I think I’ll EW double the 3.35 and 5.20 with Skybet. 5 and 4 runners respectively. EW doubles = 40 bets.

I made a small loss here, about 15%.
Nice way to play the 2 races. I think I would have lost more had I done them differently.
