Well done Mr Starmer.
Now for Ms Rayner herself.Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 12:59 #1609500You can not have members of your shadow cabinet making up policy on the hoof.
If Starmer gets rid of Labour’s left I’ll be able to vote for them.

Agree 100%
July 30, 2022 at 14:27 #1609523Starmer’s policy is clear enough – still no shortage of people in the Labour Party who don’t seem to want to ever win another General Election.

Supporting striking workers during grim economic times. Whoever does he think is? A Labour MP?
July 30, 2022 at 15:27 #1609540Starmer is a waste of space, we need a tub thumper as Labour leader.

The last tub-thumping Labour leader to win an Election?
Harold Wilson and Tony Blair couldn’t thump a tub like Michael Foot or Jeremy Corbyn could, but….
It’s a laudable sentiment, Purwell, and when I see Big Mick in all his Trade Union glory, serving it up to all and sundry, there’s a part of me that wishes he was in Starmer’s shoes, but history has shown time and time again Britain doesn’t want that kind of Labour PM.
We’re lucky if it ever wants a Labour PM at all.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 30, 2022 at 15:55 #1609552tbh I am not known for my sympathy with Unions; but would be in favour of many Unions getting more than they’ve been offered.
…And my girlfriend isn’t even twisting my arm.
She could be on strike very soon with the Royal Mail.Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 15:58 #1609554“When I see Big Mick in all his Trade Union glory, serving it up to all and sundry, there’s a part of me that wishes he was in Starmer’s shoes.”
That would be the Mick Lynch who very vocally supported Brexit.
Maybe that explains why Starmer does not want to support him.
July 30, 2022 at 16:07 #1609557“He can support striking workers without making up Labour policy.”
The modern Labour Party does not support them at all. It is a middle class party, full of people like Starmer, more concerned with identity politics than with striking workers.
Then it wonders why it lost the Red Wall.
I think it is quite clear that Starmer does not like Angela Rayner very much. He would get rid of her if he could, so sacking her partner instead is the next best thing.
July 30, 2022 at 16:08 #1609558Starmer can not totally support unions that want too high a pay rise.
May be he could support them more than he currently is though.Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 16:10 #1609560“That would be the Mick Lynch who very vocally supported Brexit.”

On the one hand he cannot risk annoying the public who are being inconvenienced by strike action. On the other hand, what is the point of a Labour Party that does not support striking workers and risks alienating a large part of its core vote?
In Starmer’s case, I get the impression he does not care much for striking workers at all, or for his deputy.

More like more concerned with winning an election that would actually put Labour in a position to make a difference to workers.

tbh Had Starmer not acted against Tarry it would’ve looked as if Starmer was afraid of Rayner.
Looked to me as if Tarry thought he was untouchable because of his connection with Rayner.
Got to be the same rules for everyone.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 16:29 #1609568Am I really defending Starmer, Labour and Unions?
What’s happened to me?
