I haven’t had a bet in this but I think Chaldean and Paddington will fight out the finish.

And why is Francesca Cumani dressed like a peeled banana?

Yep … I’ve a bee in my bonnet. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 🐝

Because if she was unpeeled you wouldn’t see her face

“I can’t see beyond the front two now we’ve had 10mm on ground that was 6.8 yesterday.

I like Group 1 form in Group 1 races and I can’t be having the unexposed pair at the prices.”

    Happy with THAT.

Backed the winner at 4/1 ante-post, 3/1 press-up today, bet the runner up to the same stakes and the longer-priced one won.

That’s a VERY good colt in my book and I don’t see anything in the Queen Anne giving Paddington the weight-for-age.

As expected really, hes the best 3yo colt by a distance, the irish guineas and this have made up for not running in the derby, ill forgive them now

Dettori was incredible sympathetic in the finish on Caldean – gave him just one gentle backhander then put his stick down and rode hand and heels and it wasn’t until inside the final furlong that the winner pulled clear.

Wonder whether Dettori made a little too much use of him out the stalls to get his position as he didn’t finish anywhere near as strongly as he did at Newmarket – Paddington had that initial burst to take it up but then seemed to stay just over a length or so clear until late on and I wonder whether it was more a case of Caldean stopping rather than Paddington quickening away.

Either way the winner has come a heck of a long way since the Navan Handicap off 97 on 26 March.

I think Chaldean ran his heart out in the 2000 Guineas Newmarket in a messy race where they never seemed to get it together stands side. Frankie Dettori probably realised he had given his all and eased off the pressure once beaten.
He’ll benefit from a nice break and come back fresh for an Autumn campaign.
Lovely horse but Paddington is a bit special and will be hard to beat this season. Jac

Am all for horses not being punished, but tbh I’d never back Frankie each way because he’s so easy on horses whose chance of winning has gone. (Watch the Coventry).

Two seconds for the Italian so far on day one.
He won’t be a happy Frankie, with Ryan catching his Ascot record.

Coolmore are having a decent run with these SIYOUNIs. Nice to see the PIVOTAL line still having an influence on the breed.

Will be interesting to see whether it translates into success as a stallion.
